Normally our Easter is spent surrounded by friends and family but this year is going to be different, this year we are all in lockdown.

We still want to make Easter special though. A time for us to come together as a family, have fun and talk to loved ones. So I spoke to some of my friends in the blogger community to help me put together this guide on how to spend Easter at home with kids.

How to spend Easter at home with kids

The thought of your kids full of chocolate and confined to your four walls may fill you with fear – I know it does me – but there are ways you can make Easter special for your kids whilst burning off some energy and having lots of fun.

Have a Facetime Easter Egg Hunt

Many families normally come together to take part in an Easter Egg hunt each year; Grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins. This year that’s just not possible but families still want to share the fun together. So whether you Facetime, Zoom in, Skype out or WhatsApp, take your mobile phone with you on your Easter Egg Hunt and connect with your loved ones!

We always go away for Easter and do an Easter Egg Hunt with our friends so this year we are going to still do the hunt at home but via Facetime with the same family!

We’ll do an Easter Egg hunt in the garden. We may have to do it virtually with my parents and nephews too though as we normally all get together for the day. I’m sure so long as chocolate is involved my young boys won’t notice too much difference!

Easter Craft

We are going to do an Easter egg hunt around our house and garden. We’ve been busy all week making decorative eggs and basket for the little man to use on the big day.

Go camping in the Garden

We’re going camping in our garden and will be cooking outside and sleeping overnight. Very much looking forward to our morning eggs cooked over the camp stove! I’m sure there will be an Easter egg hunt left by the Easter Bunny too.

Easter Baking and FaceTime Cookery Lessons

Watch a family movie

I’ve been saving watching the Lion King for just this moment; family movie time over the Easter holiday! I’m not the only one planning a family movie either…

We are going to treat ourselves to the new Trolls movie after a big roast dinner and munch our chocolate eggs with the new film – bring the cinema to our lounge!

We won’t let it ruin Easter

It’s been wonderful reading families ideas and top tips on how to spend Easter at home with kids. So many families around the world are ensuring Easter goes on for the happiness and wellbeing of their families.

We usually go to my mother in law’s and have a big family Easter lunch, after an egg hunt in the garden for the twins. This year, I’m doing the egg hunt in our own garden and having lunch with my mother in law over video chat. Not quite the same, but we won’t let it ruin Easter.
