To say the last few weeks have been a whirlwind is an understatement. A whirlwind of emotion combined with a heavy workload and a new way of both working and living. I haven’t had much time to myself, so what time I have is absolutely essential to my wellbeing.
Whether you are a busy working mum, or a busy home-schooling mum or just feeling worried and overwhelmed, here are my top 7 self-care essentials to help you relax and maintain your wellbeing during these tough and uncertain.
Top 7 self-care essentials
These self-care essentials are perfect to use at the same time so if you’re short on time it’s like having a relaxing spa at home.
Step One: Light a scented candle

Set the spa feeling at home. Light a scented candle. I love this one from an Etsy UK seller Let’s Stay Home and Hygge. It comes in a variety of different flavours including vanilla (my personal favourite) to get your home smelling spa-licious and to help you breathe in loveliness.
Step Two: Exfoliate and refresh your face

What better way to detox and refresh your skin then using this beautiful and vegan friendly exfoliator from Evolve Beauty. The Liquid Radiance Glycolic Toner is 100% natural liquid exfoliator which when applied with a cotton pad reveals instantly smoother and brighter skin. It helps to reduce irritation and dryness and improve skin texture. Delicately fragranced with organic orange flower water and preserved with a 100% natural preservative derived from sugar cane. A real pampering treat for your skin and the perfect way to start your self-care routine.
Step Three: Target fine lines and age spots

Now you have beautifully exfoliated skin, it’s time to take on those trouble spots. The 360 Eye and Lip Contour from Evolve Beauty tackles not only fine lines and wrinkles, but also age spots, skin texture and luminosity.
This biome-friendly product is formulated with an invigorating Probiotic Blend which also includes Green Tea, Pomegranate and Caffeine to target dark circles and puffiness, like a good night’s sleep in a bottle.
Apply gently to the eye and lip area, using your ring fingers to pat in any excess.
Step Four: Download a book on Audible
Now your skin is feeling pampered it’s time to pick a good book. Reading is perfect for when my mind is worrying about a million to one things. My eyes are dry and tired from staring at a laptop screen all day though so I don’t want to read, I want to be read too.
Now is the perfect opportunity to trial Audible with a 30 day free trial. It will also give you access to audible’s podcasts for free. Ideal to listen to when you are tackling the spring clean but for now choose a good book to listen to whilst you unwind and relax.
Step Five: Have a Foot Massage
No willing man slave? no problem…I’ve just bought this shiatsu foot massager so I can really get the spa factor at home.
The Snailax massager has 8 rotating shiatsu rollers. It offers a deep tissue kneading massage for back, neck, legs and feet and helps to relieve tight tension knots, muscle pain and eliminate fatigue.
I choose this massager as it had excellent customer reviews on amazon and at £45.99 it’s reasonably priced when compared with other foot massagers on the market.
Step Six: Use a sleep mask for total relaxation

Now your feet are being massaged, the room is smelling lovely from the candle and you have audible reading you a story, why not pop on a sleep mask to shut the world out.
I was gifted the sleep master sleep mask the ultimate luxury in sleep masks. Alternatively pop on a face mask like the Radiant Glow Face Mask from Evolve Beauty, perfect for all skin types. You can then save the sleep mask for when you’ve blown the candle out at bedtime for a really good nights sleep.
Step Seven: Moisturise your skin

Now you are all relaxed, pampered and feeling wonderful it’s time to apply a deep moisturising night cream so you can wake up in the morning feeling FABULOUS!
I love this Turmeric Facial Night Cream from Etsy. It can be bought in various sizes (price starting from £9). This moisturiser is rich with superfood for your skin. It’s made with argan oil, it does not clog pores and it maximizes skin cell regeneration as you sleep. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, packed full of antioxidants and is naturally anti-aging. Also, turmeric reduces scarring, helps to clear up acne breakouts, psoriasis and other dermatological conditions.
