Things To Do for Me Time – 52 Me Time Ideas
Here are 52 Me Time Ideas to help you find a balanced life.
1. Start a Journal

Explore your thoughts and feelings, or perhaps even start a gratitude diary. Journaling has become increasingly popular in recent years, and for good reason. It allows us to reflect on our thoughts and feelings, and can serve as a form of self-care and stress relief. Whether it’s at a cosy coffee shop with your favourite latte or at home with a glass of wine, journaling can be done anywhere and anytime. It’s one of the best ways to connect with yourself on a deeper level, gain clarity and perspective, and track personal growth. Studies have shown that keeping a gratitude diary can also lead to increased happiness and overall well-being.
2. Meditate for 10 Minutes
Even a few minutes of mindfulness can do wonders for your mental state. Meditation is a powerful tool for mental and emotional well-being that has been practised for centuries. In today’s busy world, finding time for ourselves can be a challenge, but taking just 10 minutes to meditate can have a profound positive effect on our overall state of mind. This simple practice allows us to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and find some much-needed alone time.
The act of meditation involves sitting or lying down in a comfortable position and focusing on deep, mindful breaths. By doing so, we are able to quiet our minds and let go of racing thoughts or worries. It is the perfect way to give our brains a break and recharge. If you find it difficult to mediate due to your monkey brain – I have this problem too! – try guided meditation. I love the app Meditation Moments, and it’s ideal if you don’t have much time, as you can choose the length of each meditation. Some are just 5 minutes long but still manage to help you recharge and focus for the day or help you sleep well at night.
3. Take a Yoga Class
Yoga has been practised for centuries and has numerous benefits for our well-being. Taking a yoga class at home or in a studio is a great way to relax your mind and body. Your future self will thank your past self for taking the time to incorporate yoga into your routine. The deep breathing techniques used in yoga can help calm the mind and reduce stress levels. This not only helps us feel more relaxed but also contributes to our overall health. In addition, practising yoga regularly can lead to an increase in energy levels. This is because yoga helps to release tension and improve circulation throughout the body. As we move through different poses and hold them for varying lengths of time, we are also building strength and flexibility, which can benefit us in our daily lives.
Another benefit of yoga is its ability to improve posture and balance. Many of us spend a lot of time hunched over desks or slouched on couches, which can lead to poor posture. By practicing yoga, we can strengthen the muscles that support our spine and help us maintain proper alignment. This not only improves our physical appearance but also reduces the risk of injury and back pain. Yoga also has numerous mental health benefits. Along with reducing stress and anxiety, it can also boost self-esteem and confidence. Yoga provides numerous physical and mental benefits.
4. Crystal Cleansing
Delving into the world of crystals can be a uniquely calming and grounding experience, one that’s perfect for your ‘me time’. Set aside time in your week for a transformative self-care experience that combines the power of crystals with chakra balancing. I love using scented crystal candles to supercharge my wellbeing.
As you immerse yourself in this serene atmosphere of the crystals, allow the aroma to transport you to a realm of peace where stress is a distant memory. Not only will you feel more connected to yourself but also balanced and refreshed from within. This is ‘me time’ at its best. A harmonious blend of crystals’ potent energies and your body’s innate power to heal itself – making it a perfect idea to infuse tranquillity into your chaotic schedule.
5. Listen to an Audiobook While You Cook
Cooking can often feel like a tedious task, especially after a long day at work. But what if there was a way to make it more enjoyable and productive? Enter audiobooks. By listening to an audiobook while you cook, you can not only learn something new but also relax and unwind. It’s the perfect combination of productivity and self-care. Plus, with the rise in popularity of audiobooks, there are endless options to choose from – whether you want to delve into a novel or listen to a non-fiction book about personal growth or cooking techniques. So why not make use of your time in the kitchen and stimulate your mind while preparing a delicious meal?

6. Attend a Seminar or Workshop
One way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life is by attending a seminar or workshop focused on professional development. Attending a seminar or workshop not only allows us to gain new skills and knowledge, but also provides an opportunity for some much-needed “me” time. By setting aside dedicated time to focus on ourselves and our personal growth, we are able to recharge and come back with renewed energy and motivation. Furthermore, these events often bring together like-minded individuals who share similar goals and interests. This can create a sense of community and support
7. Have a Colourful Bath
Immersing yourself in a relaxing bubble bath is one of the simplest ways to wash away the stress of the day. The warm, soothing water works wonders on your body, helping to relax stiff muscles and promote a sense of calmness. But the real magic happens when you add an element of fun and whimsy, like the Unicorn Poo Bath Bombs from Prezzy Box.

These colourful additions transform your bath into a rainbow-hued oasis, creating an atmosphere that not only helps you relax but also sparks joy and happiness. The vibrant colours swirling around in your bath can positively influence your mood as colour psychology suggests that certain hues can induce feelings of happiness and tranquillity. By incorporating these unique bath bombs into your ‘me’ time routine, you’re not just prioritising self-care; you’re adding a dash of colour therapy as well!
8. Create a Vision Board
Dwell on your dreams and goals, and let your creativity flow. A vision board allows us to visually represent what we want to achieve in life. By taking a bit of time to focus on our desires and goals, we can tap into our inner creativity and discover new things that we may have never considered before. A vision board also serves as a reminder of our own needs and motivates us to take actionable steps towards making them a reality. Whether it’s career advancement, personal growth or simply improving our overall well-being, a vision board can be a powerful tool in helping us manifest the life we truly desire.
9. Indulge in a Luxurious-Feeling Skincare Routine
A mini-spa treatment in your own bathroom can be very rejuvenating (as long as your bathroom is clean and your vanity unit is organised!). That’s why I was thrilled to discover the 7th Heaven Moisturising Pamper Hamper Gift Set. This lovely set is perfect for creating a mini spa experience right in the comfort of your own bathroom without breaking the bank. It includes everything you need for a full pampering session. A nourishing hair mask, nine different face masks and even a soft cloth. And at just £8.99 for Amazon Prime Members, it’s super affordable too.

If you really want to have a spa experience at home, why not top it off with an LED Face Mask. I love mine which has three different different lights – red light for anti-aging, yellow light to brighten skin and blue light for spots. I haven’t had a spot since using it!
Top Tip: If using an LED Face Mask, always wear protective goggles for your eyes.
10. Digital Detox
Taking a break from technology can help us reconnect with ourselves and our surroundings – try replacing screen time with a relaxing hobby like knitting, and keep your projects organised in a on-the-go knitting bag that you can grab whenever you need a mindful moment. This “me time” gives our minds a chance to rest and recharge, promoting mental clarity and reducing stress levels. It’s important to take care of our mental well-being, and a digital detox is a simple but effective way to do just that.
11. Sip on a Special Brew
Sipping on a special brew is one of the easy ways to carve out “me time” in a busy schedule. Whether it’s an indulgent cup of gourmet coffee (buy gourmet coffee beans here) or a delicate luxury tea, this simple pleasure can become a cherished ritual. The process of brewing and savouring this special beverage allows us to slow down, take a breath and delight in the moment. It becomes an oasis of calm in our otherwise hectic day, offering not only sensory satisfaction but also a much-needed mental break. So go ahead, steep that expensive tea or brew your favourite beans – because you deserve that special cup of coffee not just on special occasions, but every single day.
12. Do a 15-Minute Workout
We all lead busy lives, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have time for a little self-care. Incorporating a 15-minute workout into your daily routine is the perfect way to take some me-time and reap the benefits of physical activity. Not only does it release those feel-good endorphins, but it also helps improve our overall health and well-being. Whether it’s a quick jog around the block or a bodyweight circuit in your living room, finding just 15 minutes in your day to move your body can make all the difference.
13. Lose Yourself in Nature
Taking a walk in nature is the perfect way to disconnect from our busy lives and reconnect with ourselves. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll through the park or a hike through the woods, spending time in nature can have numerous benefits for both our physical and mental well-being. One of the greatest advantages of taking a nature walk is that you can do it at your own pace. Unlike structured workouts or fitness classes, there is no pressure to keep up with others or meet certain expectations. You can simply take your time and enjoy the beauty around you while also getting some exercise. Nature walks are also great for clearing our minds and reducing stress levels. Being surrounded by greenery has been proven to have a calming effect on our brains, helping us to relax and unwind. This can also lead to improved mood, as spending time in nature has been linked to increased levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that contributes to feelings of happiness and well-being.
14. Practice Deep Breathing
Taking a few moments for yourself each day can do wonders for your overall well-being. One simple way to incorporate some much-needed “me time” is through deep breathing exercises. By taking slow, deep breaths, you can reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, and even lower blood pressure. So the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember to take a few deep breaths and give yourself the gift of calmness and relaxation. Your mind and body will thank you.
15. Declutter a Room
Decluttering a room is not just about tidying up. It’s an opportunity to create a serene environment that reflects your personality and supports your well-being. It’s the perfect time to let go of items that no longer serve you, making space for what truly brings you joy. And here’s the bonus points – this activity can also improve your focus and reduce anxiety, as a clutter-free space often translates into a clutter-free mind. So give yourself the gift of ‘me time’ by decluttering a room. The benefits are more than meets the eye.
Oh, and if you want to be really indulgent, maybe look at house cleaning services who can come in and give the place a deep clean once the clutter has left the building because there’s nothing quite so luxurious and quite so like having me-time as having someone else to do the cleaning for you.
16. Take Yourself Out for a Solo Date
Taking yourself out for a solo date can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Venturing to the cinema alone allows you to immerse yourself fully in the movie, unhampered by distractions or interruptions. Similarly, treating yourself to dinner at a restaurant offers an opportunity for reflection and self-indulgence. You can take enough time to truly appreciate each bite, unrushed by the usual social obligations that often accompany dining out. This dedicated ‘me time’ enhances your relationship with yourself and allows you to enjoy life’s simple pleasures in a whole new light.
17. Learn a New Recipe
Cooking can be a form of self-expression and a delightful feast for the senses. Embracing the challenge of learning a new recipe is another wonderful way to spend quality time with oneself. It’s not just about the end product, but also the journey of discovery and creativity that leads you there. This culinary adventure often leads to a better understanding of your preferences and capabilities, offering a better way to unwind and rejuvenate. Moreover, these newfound cooking skills can be shared with family members, turning your personal joy into a collective experience – making ‘me time’ even more fulfilling
18. Write a Letter to Your Future/Younger Self
Writing a letter to your future or younger self is an enlightening journey into self-discovery. It opens up a variety of ways to confront the trials and triumphs of your teenage years, helping you appreciate who you’ve become while reminding you of who you once were. This list of things – emotions, experiences, lessons learned – penned down in a letter can be a treasure trove for reflection and growth in the future. Whether addressing your past naivety or future aspirations, this practice reinforces personal development and offers a unique perspective on ‘me time’, making it even more profound and meaningful.
19. Colour or Paint
Diving into the world of colouring or painting can be an exciting new hobby, offering a refreshing way to spend your ‘me time’. These simple activities, often associated with childhood play, have found a resurgence in popularity among adults. So grab those vibrant hues and let the transformation begin – one stroke at a time!

It offers a therapeutic escape, helping you alleviate stress and enhance mindfulness.
22. Cuddle a Pet
Studies show petting animals can lower stress. Incorporating some ‘me time’ with your furry friends into your daily routine can significantly elevate your overall mood and well-being. As you cuddle a pet, you’re rewarded with a surge of oxytocin, often referred to as the ‘love hormone’, which not only nurtures an emotional bond but also instigates feelings of relaxation and happiness. It’s a heart-warming activity that promotes tranquillity, effectively reducing stress levels and providing an avenue for mindful living. So next time you’re saying, ‘I need some me time but don’t have enough time’, remember the therapeutic benefits of sharing a warm cuddle with your beloved pet.

Diving into the linguistic universe by learning a new language is an enriching activity that can truly transform your ‘me time’. It’s not just about adding a skill to your repertoire, but it’s also about embracing a whole other culture and unique way of thinking. In my case, I’ve been spending 5 minutes each day on the free version of Duo Lingo App, learning French. This small daily commitment has brought immense joy and a sense of accomplishment. 25. Do a Puzzle
Engaging in a puzzle is not just a delightful pastime. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the realm of problem-solving, which subtly trains your brain and boosts cognitive function. It’s the ‘only thing’ you might need to stimulate both sides of your brain: the logical left and the creative right. As you find yourself lost within its intricate patterns, a puzzle offers an escape from daily stressors – making it another beneficial activity for your cherished ‘me time’. So why wait? Dive into this world of puzzles and unlock a new avenue towards relaxation and mental enrichment.

Why is me time so important?
We need ‘me time’ because it’s the antidote to the relentless hustle and bustle of our daily lives. This much-needed pause allows us to engage in time activities that we genuinely love, be it reading a book, painting, or just sitting in silence. When we carve out these moments for ourselves, we’re not just doing something enjoyable. We’re investing in our overall well-being. We need time to disconnect from external stressors and reconnect with our inner selves. It’s during these sacred intervals that we learn more about our desires, dreams, and who we are as individuals. By giving yourself this allowance of solitude and peace, you are nurturing your mental health, boosting your creativity, and building resilience against life’s inevitable adversities. After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Replenishing your energy through ‘me time’ enables you to show up as your best self in every aspect of life.
How do I schedule my time for myself?
Scheduling time for yourself might seem like a daunting task, especially when you’re juggling multiple responsibilities. It’s great to have the me time ideas, but how do you fit this time in? However, it’s essential to remember that when you spend time with yourself is not just an act of self-love, but also a necessity for maintaining overall well-being. Here are some me time tips on how to have me time and really make the most of your personal time.
Firstly, start by setting clear boundaries and prioritising your needs. This could mean turning off your work emails after a certain hour, or saying ‘no’ to social obligations that drain your energy.
Next, try to incorporate small pockets of ‘me time’ into your daily routine. This doesn’t have to be anything extravagant. Even taking 10 minutes to enjoy a cup of coffee in silence can make a huge difference.
Lastly, make use of planning tools to help manage your time better. This could be a physical planner or a digital app. By visually mapping out your day, you’ll be able to see where you can squeeze in some much-needed personal time.
Remember, the goal isn’t to completely isolate yourself from the world but to find a balance that allows you to recharge and thrive. So, go ahead and start spending time with the most important person in your life – you!
Conclusion, Me Time Ideas

It was then that I decided to prioritise my me time, and trust me, it has made a world of difference. Now, whether it’s curling up with a good book or going for a leisurely walk, I ensure that I get a little bit of me time each day. These moments of solitude allow me to recharge, reflect and rejuvenate. I cherish my me time because it’s a reminder that amidst all the chaos, it’s important to pause and nurture oneself.

Woah. What a great list! I do feel like I need to bookmark this every time my therapist tells me I need some ‘me’ time. I think as a young mother it is so easy to forget to focus on our needs when it’s so intertwined with the kids. It’s like I’m happy when the kids are happy. But we forget and neglect our own needs and this list is a great way to help ourselves find ourselves again, amongst the hustle and bustle.
100% it’s so hard being a mum with young kids to find time for yourself but the benefits of just spending a short time for self-care sees massive benefits to your wellbing and mindset.

My favourite self care = It goes a little something like this, the evening to myself, the house is fairly clean, clean bedding, a pamper shower (a shower where I shave myself and exfoliate!), moisturize, clean PJ’s, a takeaway, diet cola, movie of my choice! WOW !
What an amazing list. Something to suit everyone as well as trying new things and ideas. I’m planning on having a nice colourful bath tonight before heading off to go to a festival tomorrow for the weekend.
Great suggestions. Will definitely embark in one or two!
