EFT Tapping for mindset and wellbeing

Have you considered EFT tapping for mindset? When I first heard about tapping I originally dismissed it. Now it’s my preferred method of dealing with the daily working mum stress and anxieties I experience. I find it helps to reset my mind and feel prepared for the challenges each day presents as a busy working mum.

In recent weeks I have been feeling tired, overwhelmed and very stressed. I was struggling to sleep which escalated all of my anxieties. So many things were weighing on my mind:

  • Am I present enough for my son? Does he have the support he needs from me?
  • Can I keep up with my busy workload?
  • Should I have a blog as well as a full time job?
  • Can I control my nerves when presenting in the upcoming meeting?

The more I thought about things the more stressed I became, the anxieties replaying over and over in my mind like a stuck record. I tried hypnotherapy and meditation, which helped a bit but the stress and anxiety was too strong. I was worried I was heading for burnout and then nobody would benefit. Not my son, not my performance, and certainly not my self-worth, health and wellbeing.

That’s when a friend recommended EFT tapping to me. Seeing how my anxieties were holding me back from enjoying life and how I was struggling with stress and anxiety, she suggested this technique to help me cope. Since then, EFT tapping has drastically helped me and it’s something that I believe could benefit everyone, whether you are a busy parent or have a high pressured career, or just if you are feeling tired, overwhelmed and stressed. EFT for mindset is the perfect way to manage your stress. But how does it help?

Disclaimer

I use tapping to manage day-to-day stresses. It is not recommended to try to tap on past trauma without a trained professional. If you have any form of PTSD, serious mental health illness, addiction, or are feeling depressed or suicidal in any way please seek professional help and contact a mental health professional.

How EFT Tapping for mindset works

EFT tapping, which stands for ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’, is used to help manage your emotions and any imbalance in your life. That’s why it’s perfect for me as a busy working parent with conflicting responsibilities.

EFT uses Chinese acupressure energy points to release blocked energy to maintain your physical and emotional health. Whist tapping you acknowledge any negative thoughts that you have and replace them with positive affirmations. EFT not only helps you to recognise your issues; it also helps you accept them so you can ultimately accept yourself.

EFT Tapping points

There are 9 EFT Tapping points. You tap with 2 fingers on these points to get the energy flowing to restore balance in our emotions and ultimately in our lives too.

These EFT Tapping points are:

  • Top of head
  • Inner eyebrows
  • Side of eyes
  • Under eyes
  • Under nose
  • Chin point
  • Inner collarbones
  • Under arms
  • Karate Chop

How to get started

It’s easy to get started and also to fit into your daily routine – no matter how busy you are. Like I mentioned previously you should seek a trianed proessinal or a medical practioner if you are dealing with major issues, depression or trauma. I am not an expert and the below is based on how I personally use ET tapping. So if you want to know how I deal with day-to-day issues, here’s how to give it ago:

1. The issue

Focus on something that you are worried about. Whether that’s a person, situation, or a negative feeling you have about yourself.

2. Start tapping on the negative

Whilst thinking of this issue use your fingertips on your two fingers to tap on the 9 EFT Tapping points, starting with the karate chop, moving to the inner eyebrow and down. Move along the EFT points whilst recognising this negative emotion you are experiencing, finishing with the top of the head. Tap at each point for around 5 to 7 times.

An example of tapping would be:

‘Even though I’m feeling nervous about the presentation I have to do, I accept how I feel and I will be clam and relaxed.” (tapping karate chop three times).

Then with each of the other points, state what is making you feel anxious i.e. I’m worried I will be too nervous. There’s so much stress about this presentation. I’m worried I will mess up. Are people going to find me boring.

If you’re not sure what to say just repeat the same thing. ‘I’m feeling nervous about this presentation’.

You just need to be honest and simply say how you feel. Do this around three times until you are feeling better about the situation.

3. Positive affirmations

Once you feel better about the issue move onto the positive affirmations whilst tapping on your points. What would you like the outcome to be for the situation?

An example of this would be:

“I feel confident and prepared’.

‘People want to hear my ideas and thoughts’.

‘I am calm and confident’.

‘This is my time to shine’.

Reminder and final thoughts

So by using tapping for mindset we’re letting go of the anxiety. Once we’ve moved some of the anxiety we’re experiencing we then incorporate positive feelings around the situation. This will make us actually feel better about the issue and able to deal with it.
