We visited the Big Sheep in October last year and had an amazing day there. My son absolutely loved it and still asks to go back. But soon after visiting the country went into lockdown again so I’ve held back on my review, waiting until the Big Sheep reopens. And I’m now delighted to advise that the Big Sheep has reopened after lockdown and is now available for fun family days out!!

Does the Big Sheep have measures in place to keep people safe from Covid?
First up, a very important question, what measures does the Big Sheep take to keep visitors safe from Covid? The Big Sheep advise on their website that staff have been working hard get ready for guests safety. Here’s some of the measures they’ve set up, as stated on their website:
- There are hand sanitiser units accessible around the park.
- They have a new cleaning system using a cleaner proven to kill the Coronavirus.
- Online booking only to restrict capacity and stop overcrowding.
- A new visitor charter so you know what they expect when you arrive.
- A brand-new outdoor stage and safe social space with grass bubbles spaced 2 metres apart.
- Spaced seating including a giant open sided marquee.
When we visited a big plus for me was that many of the attractions are outside and there’s plenty of space in the animal barns. Soft Play had timed admittance to restrict the amount of people in there at one time. There was plenty of hand sanitiser.
Some attractions at the Big Sheep were understandably closed (check before you book) but for us we were still able to have an amazing family fun filled day!
Our Big Sheep Highlights
Feeding the sheep and seeing the animals
As an animal lover my son’s top highlight had to be feeding the sheep! You have the option to buy sheep food on the entrance and you can hand feed the very happy sheep! A lovely up close and personal experience with animals.

The Rollercoaster
At four my son was a little too young to ride the rollercoaster but I love fast rides! Fortunately we visited with my sister-in-law and husband, so we had the opportunity to do a child swap. Of course the magical moments with my son are what made the day special but the rollercoaster was also a big plus!
The friendly staff
From the welcoming lady who greeted us at the ticket booth, to the farmers giving demonstrations. The staff were super friendly and welcoming.

The Train
When we went it was Halloween and the train had been changed into a ghost a train! Whatever time of year, you will all love this little train ride that takes you around the lake.

The Soft Play
My son absolutely loves soft play and the Big Sheep soft play did not disappoint! It had a cafe area for the grown ups who could enjoy a coffee whilst the kids were playing. The grown ups also had to wear masks for safety reasons which was reassuring.

Big Sheep fun facts
Did you know?
- The Big Sheep is actually a working farm not just an attraction!
- They have lambs all year round so you might be able to meet lambs at Halloween!!
- They also have puppies at their petting farm. Big Sheep breed pure bred collies and guests can get to meet the friendly pups!
- You can also meet alpacas, llamas and pigs.
