Easter Family Time

Board Games

Easter for me is about spending time with my family. It’s taking time to feel grateful for them and sharing some fun and precious moments.

Dobble

Described by celebrity fan Holly Willoughby as the ‘best game ever’, Dobble is an observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards.

Up to 8 people can play from just 6 years old and each game can take anything from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. There’s also Dobble Football, Dobble Star Wars, Dobble Harry Potter and Dobble Minions – so something for everyone!

Ticket to Ride

Ticket to Ride is a brilliant game to play together as family. It can be learned in under 15 minutes. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfil Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities and to the player who builds the longest continuous route.

You can choose from the original game with over 10 million sold worldwide or New York, Europe, London and United Kingdom. Suitable for 2-5 players and age 8+. One game takes around 30-60 minutes.

Dixit

This is a beautifully illustrated game of creative guesswork, where your imagination unlocks the tale.

In this award-winning board game, players will use the stunning imagery on their cards to bluff their opponents and guess which image matches the story.  Dixit is for 3-6 players and aged 8+.

Reading Together: Picture Books

If you have little ones, then Easter is the perfect opportunity to snuggle up together to read some beautiful picture books! There are some wonderful new picture books that have been published by Harper Collins that I highly recommend.

The newly discovered Paddington story, Paddington’s Easter Egg Hunt, was unexpectedly unearthed in a lockdown clear-out by Michael Bond’s agent, Hilary Delamere. The story was co-written by Michael and his daughter Karen Jankel in the ’90s for a charity newsletter and filed away until Hilary’s rediscovery. It has now been transformed into a picture book featuring the beautiful illustrations by long-standing Paddington illustrator RW Alley.

The Magic Sandcastle has beautiful illustrations. The book very gently reflects values that are vital for the future wellbeing of young readers, such as the importance of resilience, team work and tenacity in the face of adversity.

Getting active together: Badminton Racket Set

The sun is meant to be shining this Easter so what better way to spend time together than playing some family sport? This brilliant Yonex GR505 badminton racket set is lightweight and can easily be taken to the park or enjoyed in the garden. The set includes 2 plastic shuttles and 2 durable, steel-framed rackets. It’s ideal for beginners and comes with a handy carry case.

Easter alternative gifts for kids

If you’re fed up with the mountains of chocolate eggs that your kids eat and don’t want them bouncing off the walls all Easter, I have two great ideas. One will keep them active and burn some energy off, and the other will keep them quiet as they get captivated in reading about adventures.

Skateboard or Scooter

The perfect gift for Spring when the weather is changing to warmer days, a skateboard or scooter will encourage your kids to get outside, enjoy fresh air and exercise!

If you’re looking for inspiration, I love the Euff Dreamcatcher Complete Skateboard range, which is available in 4 brilliant colourways and 2 sizes. The dreamy graphic is laid over a beautifully stained maple board, and the boards feature the exclusive Enuff Decade trucks as standard!

We love our Euff Dreamcatcher Mini (7.25″) in the amazing orange and red colours. It’s ideal for my son and is going to make the perfect Easter gift this year!

Or why not get your kids a scooter to whizz about on? Great exercise and even better fun!

Fantasy book series

As a kid I was a big reader and nothing would have made me happier than receiving a new children’s fantasy book series. Who am I kidding, I’m still a big reader and I love children’s fiction! I was sent the Harper Collins The Starfell Series to review. The enchanting series written by Dominique Valente and gorgeously illustrated by Sarah Warburton, has four books available. They are spellbinding stories and great for readers 8+.

Easter Gift ideas for dad

I find dad’s are always difficult to buy for. This year though I wanted to get my husband something really special. He does a lot for us and deserves a treat. That’s why I decided to get him the EA7 Emporio Armani Backpack via Mainline Menswear. Mainline Menswear is a leading menswear retailer so a great place to browse when looking for inspiration. They stock over 100 designer brands and around 10,000 products, so you’re spoiled for choice.

I chose to get my husband EA7 Emporio Armani Backpack. Not only does it look stylish but it’s also really handy and a really good quality. We are a family on the go so this stunning backpack is perfect!

Easter Gift ideas for mum

Us mums most definitely deserve a treat. Easter is the perfect time to spoil ourselves (or leave hints about what we want)! I always love a pampering gift or a homeware gift at Easter. Here are my top picks for mums this Easter.

Hand care pampering

Us mums work hard and it’s often our hands that suffer. So this Easter, treat your mum (or yourself) to some beautiful hand care products. I love COUTURIERS HAND CREAM. It was originally created for seamstresses to care for their dry, pinpricked hands without leaving any marks on fabrics. It’s the backstage hand care at Netflix, ITV, GMB and has 10 naturally active ingredients:

• Shea Butter and Allantoin – softens & soothe
• Oat Beta-glucan – intensely moistures
• Macadamia Nut Oil – restores
• Rosehip Oil – nourishes
• Pro-vitamin B5 – hydrates
• Swiss Garden Cress – evens skin tone
• Hydrolysed Keratin – conditions nails
• Lavender Oil – calms
• A Biomimetic Lipid Complex – locks in moisture, supports the skins lipid barrier, protects

Team this up with ARTISAN HAND SANITISER and CRYSTAL NAIL FILE for a perfect hand pampering treat.

Homeware Delight

It’s probably no secret if you read my blog that I’m a big fan of Mason Cash’s In The Forest kitchen range. The gorgeous designs depict forest scenes inspired by folk tales of the mid-19th century.

In The Forest Large Jug is absolutely perfect as an Easter Gift and will look gorgeous on your Easter table to refresh your thirsty guests. Or alternatively if you want the wow factor in your home, fill the jug with Spring flowers. Just beautiful!

This is a wonderful gift for any honey lovers! With the beautiful In The Forest design, the Honey Pot, comes complete with a wooden drizzler. It is ideal for storing and serving your honey, treacle or syrup in style.

Easter Gift for fitness fans or anyone on a diet

Easter can be a tricky time if you’e trying to lose weight and keep fit. That’s why I have the perfect gift for any fitness fan or anyone on a diet or trying to lose weight.

I love the fabric booty bands from Amonax. These bands are glute training specialists and are ideal for mums who have a busy lifestyle and still want to keep up with good body shape. I mean who doesn’t want a well sculpted glute!! The Amonax bands set has three levels of resistance, which allows you to start from light and move up to medium and heavy as you get stronger. All you need is 10 mins a day, 3-5 times a week for 2 weeks, and you will start to see the changes in yourself.

Or how about a home workout set? The Amonex home workout set is a well-rounded workout set for anyone who is looking to have a good workout on the upper body at home. The ab roller is essential for ab trimming (or firm abs, 6 packs). The skipping rope is ideal for calorie burning (or weight loss). Finally the push up bars are perfect for upper body workout. At just £19.99 it’s a lot cheaper than a gym membership too and perfect for me to start working on losing my ‘mum tum’.

Easter Travel

If you’re going away this Easter with the kids then it’s good to be organised. Car travel with kids can be stressful, especially when you are trying to focus on the road. These greta gifts will make Easter car travel with kids a breeze.

It also has 4 multi storage pockets to hold bottles, tissues, books and toys. It’s very easy to install and also is easy to wipe clean. We love it though as it’s part of the Planet Buddies range who are an environmentally conscious children’s brand with fun, exciting tech and accessories. All their products feature a character and associated story to create awareness on how children can help to protect the planet and endangered animals. Planet Buddies have also partnered with World Land Trust and Marine Conservation Society whereby a proportion of revenue from each sale is donated to each charity respectively to support their various projects.
