As you may well know if you read my blog, I’m a big fan of family time, creating memories that will last a lifetime and having quality time together. You will then also know that I’m a big fan of ‘ME’ time too! Once the little ones are tucked up safely at night, it’s time for you to enjoy yourself! That’s why I have created this blog post, my perfect night in lockdown. Here’s how it goes:
Saturday Night in Lockdown

- 6pm: My son’s having his dinner, my husband’s keeping him company. I sneak off to have a very bubbly bath with a cheeky glass of fizz and my kindle. Bliss.
- 6.30pm: Get dressed into a favourite (but comfortable) outfit. Put a bit of makeup on, make myself feel a little bit glam even if I’m just staying in. Indian takeaway ordered.
- 7pm: Bottle of beautiful red wine, Siddùra Erema 2016, opened to breathe. Bath and bed for my son. Quick bedtime story and if no sign of tiredness bribe with bedtime stories on iPad until he falls asleep (it is Saturday night after all).
- 7.30pm Pour myself a glass of the red wine. Take a deep inhale. It smells amazing. Take my first sip, it tastes amazing. There is no better way to mark the weekend then to celebrate with a quality wine.
- 7.45pm Indian takeaway arrives. Delicious! Kadai Paneer, Garlic Naan and Pulao Rice. It goes perfectly with the Erema.
- 8.30pm Finish the wine off whilst snuggled on the sofa, watching a movie. The perfect Saturday night in lockdown.
Mamma Loves Wine Review
Siddùra Erema 2016 | Cannonau di Sardegna DOC
Our red wine for the night was kindly gifted to us by Independent Wine, one of the UK’s leading Italian wine specialists.
This is the perfect wine which all mammas should treat themselves too! It’s no surprise that it’s won awards including the Decanter Bronze Medal 2019 and the Women’s Wine & Spirits Award Double Gold 2019.
Siddùra Erema is a powerful wine with aromas of fresh and spiced berries, made from Sardinia’s signature black grape, Cannonau, a black grape varietal thought to be the most ancient in the Mediterranean.
Why I love Siddùra Erema 2016

Super-charged with anti-oxidants this wine is a key element of the famous Sardinian diet, so in my mind it’s practically good for you (in moderation).
The grapes were harvested by hand. They were left to macerate for two weeks and then fermented in stainless tanks at a controlled temperature. After this, it was matured sur lee to develop texture and more complex flavours. The wine was then aged in large oak barrels for 12 months, and bottled in the winter of 2018.
This wine comes from Siddùra winery which is recognised as one of the highest-achieving Italian wineries. As well as planting Sardinia’s signature grapes, Cannonau and Vermentino, they also grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Every year since 2013 they have won Decanter Gold, Silver, Bronze and Platinum medals – as well as countless awards in Germany, Belgium, Austria and other countries.

Erema is a beautiful deep ruby colour with the aroma of wild berries and cherry, as well as spicy black pepper. It’s dry and fresh, full-bodied, with smooth rounded tannins and high acidity. It was the perfect match to my spicy meal, complimenting the flavour.
If you are looking for a treat for the weekend I definitely recommend this lovely red, top marks from me!
