This simple but delicious omelette recipe for kids is fun to make and a great way to sneak some all important veg into their diets! It doesn’t take long to put together and the ingredients aren’t expensive.
Don’t get me wrong, my son doesn’t get a cooked breakfast every morning. I’m a working mum so sometimes alphabet cereal or weetabix just has to make do! However, if I have a morning at home it’s the perfect opportunity to have a yummy breakfast together. And what better way to start the day then with a homemade omelette?

Ingredients (Omelette recipe for kids)
- 6 small eggs
- Half a small orange pepper
- Quater of a small green pepper
- Handful of small cherry or plum tomatoes
- Small amount of grated cheese
- Pinch of pepper to flavour
- Small knob of butter
Feel free to get creative with different veg and also add ham if you prefer. As long as the ingredients are nice and colourful, hopefully it will appeal to fussy eaters.
Top Tip
I’ve recently discovered that it’s a myth that adding milk to scrambled eggs or omelettes makes it taste better. I couldn’t believe how much more creamier my scrambled eggs tasted the first time I omitted the milk. It’s up to you whether you use milk in the omelette but I certainly didn’t miss this ingredient.

Cooking Method
Chop the veg and put into a jug. Break the eggs into the bowl. Your kids can help with this if you’re brave enough! Add a pinch of pepper.
The ingredients in the bowl should be nice and colourful and looking appealing to your kids.
Next get your little one to mix up the eggs with the veg. My son has just turned three and he loves getting involved with the cooking. Stirring is an important part of the process and makes him feel like he’s helped make breakfast.

Next I melt a small knob of butter in a saucepan and then add the omelette ingredients. I cook on a low to medium heat for just over 5 minutes checking often with a wooden spatular to see if the omelette will lift easily from the pan. Once the egg has mostly solidified at the top, I then grate the cheese into the omelette and fold the omelette in half. Your kids can have fun grating the cheese for the recipe.
Continue to cook on the pan until the cheese has melted. If you have any doubts that the eggs are not cooked, you can always cook in the oven for a couple of minutes.
Finally cut the omelette up so there’s some for you and some for your little one. Serve with a slice of toast, generous dollop of ketchup and a smile. Tuck in – yum!

My son loves omelette. I will try this recipe.
I love Omlette but have yet to introduce the kids……will have to try this out with them
An omelette, and scrambled egg, were two breakfasts I taught my two children to make from a young age. They often sort out their own breakfasts now (they are 10 and 12) x
Oooh yummy! My son would love this!!
Looks good! Will have to try this. Thanks for sharing ♥️ ♥️ By any chance, are you interested in doing collabs? xx
Great idea to get children cooking
