In a post-Brexit, Covid world, money is not only a hot topic, but it’s also a really important topic to address. And with interest rates, inflation, and cost of living on the rise, combined with new ways to make money from cryptocurrencies and tokens, it’s an increasingly important topic. It’s hard to know what the year holds and hopefully there will be some great opportunities ahead but to make sure you stay on track we look at how to manage your money in 2022.
How to manage your money in 2022?
Have a budget and keep track of your money
It’s a good question. One of the biggest things that people do wrong with their money is that they don’t manage it well. And that can mean anything from forgetting to check your accounts to not knowing what your spending patterns are.
If you don’t have a budget, it’s hard to say how much you’re spending, so you don’t have a way to know if you’re spending too much. And if you’re spending too much, you have to take the necessary steps to control it.
So the biggest thing is to keep track of your money. If you have a budget, stick to it and consider money-saving tips to help you stay within it. If you don’t have a budget, start one. The same thing with your spending patterns; If you have a good handle on how you spend your money, you’ll be able to control your spending and see where you can cut back if needed. If you’re not sure where to start you can get help and support with money-saving books from your local library.
Make sure you have a savings plan, a retirement plan, and a debt-reduction plan. Those three things are the building blocks of a smart budget.
Have a Financial Plan

Whether you’re saving for a down payment or investing for retirement, you need to have a plan. If you don’t have a plan, you’re not going to know what to do.
We’re all busy and we all have a lot of different things to do. But make sure you have a savings plan, a retirement plan, and a debt-reduction plan. Those three things are the building blocks of a smart budget. If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to your finances after retirement, there are retirement planning services available.
You should also start thinking about having savings for your children too in case they want to go on to higher education. I have Premium Bonds for my son.
What to do if you have too much debt?
There’s help available. But first, you need to ask for it.
Financial problems can cause a lot of stress and upset. They can also leave you feeling isolated and alone. If you are in financial trouble and need help, don’t be afraid to ask for it. It’s not an admission of failure or a weakness. It’s a fact of life.
Ask for help if you need it
People often struggle to ask for help because they are afraid of being judged or ridiculed. If you’re feeling embarrassed or ashamed about your situation, it’s not too late to ask for help.
However, it’s also important to know that there is no shame in asking for help. In fact, there is no shame in asking for help from your friends, your family, or even your creditors.
When you ask for help, you are doing something that is brave and you should be proud of yourself.
Here are some things you can do if you need help:
1. If you’re struggling to pay your bills, ask your creditors to see if they can help you. They may be able to give you a payment break, extend the time you have to pay back the debt or lower your interest rate and monthly payment.
2. If you are having trouble making your mortgage payments, contact your mortgage company to see if you can reduce your monthly payments.
3. Speak to friends and family and see if they can offer any support or help.

When you ask for help, you are not admitting to being a failure or a bad person. You are just saying that you need help and we all deserve support when needed.
Don’t wait until you are in a financial crisis. Ask for help when you need it.
Living on a budget in 2022
Budgeting can be difficult at times. If you do not know where to begin, try using the “CASH IN, CASH OUT” method. Begin with the most important things in your life. Then, list what you spend money on each month. Next, subtract what you earn from what you spend. If the balance is negative, you need to make adjustments. If it is positive, you have money to spend.
If you need to live on a budget there are some ways you can save money.
#1: Buy second hand and shop in charity shops
#2: Stop spending money on unnecessary products.
#3: Find coupons and discount codes.
#4: Save on petrol, walk if you can.
#5: Use leftovers and batch cook.
#6: Earn a bit of extra cash (blog post with ideas on how to do this coming soon)!
