Life can be overwhelming at times and it’s easy to compare what feels like your imperfect life with the perfect life of others. But the reality is everyone struggles no matter how amazing things may seem on the surface. And you know what? It is absolutely 100% ok not to be perfect. I know I’m certainly not and I’m always looking at ways on how to be more confident!
And like so many mums, I have so many insecurities and doubts…My hair has and always will be annoyingly frizzy, I’m starting to get wrinkles, I have a double chin, I’m not successful enough and worst of all…am I a good mum?
Well I have news for you (and me). So what? The wrinkles tell the story of my life, my frizzy hair is just a part of me and my double chin is an incentive to exercise! I may not be the most successful but I’m doing ok. Plus I have a lot of dreams that I’m willing to work on. Sometimes I’m a wonderful mum and sometimes I’m not so good. I’m tired or cranky or impatient. We all have off days, but the important thing is my son knows that I love him and that I’m there for him.
To help me feel more confident We Love Dates have very kindly sent me some lovely goodies to enjoy. In fact I’ve been enjoying them all week! We Love Dates is a dating site on a mission to make people feel confident and love themselves unconditionally. This is a campaign I’m so happy to be supporting. As such below are my top tips on how to feel more confident.

Top Tips on How to feel more confident
Affirmations
Have you got that little voice in your head? You know the one. It tells you that you’re going to mess up or that you’re not good enough. Well you know what, it’s wrong. You are good enough. However, if you’re anything like me, you will need reminding of this and help blocking out that little voice!
So tell yourself when you’re getting ready in the morning that you can conquer the challenges of the day. You are worth it and you are more than capable.
If that’s not enough, look at ways you can reinforce those messages. I love the pens that We Love Dates sent me as they have awesome messages on them like ‘YOU GOT THIS’ ‘YOU ARE SMART’ and ‘YOU ARE A LEGEND’. Just what I need reminding of when I’m having a busy day at work or struggling with what to write on the blog!
Meditation and Hypnotherapy
Take 20 minutes to yourself to listen to confidence boosting hypnotherapy. This can be at the start of the day before anyone else has got up, at the end of the day to unwind, or if you’re having a stressful hectic day, why not sneak off for a little bit so you can retune your mindset and realign your day.
My two favourite apps for hypnotherapy and meditation are:
Digi Pill
I have the Digi Pill app on my phone. It comes with a complimentary ‘pill’ to try anytime. if you like it you then have the option to either ‘prescribe’ or buy individually the sessions you think you will benefit from. My personal favourites include ‘Perfect Pitch’ (prescribed for confidence) and ‘Motivation’ (prescribed for success).
Calm
I also have the Calm app on my phone which has the Daily Calm, a daily mindfulness sessions, and a library of mediations you can listen to. It also have ‘The Spark’ which has short sessions covering all kinds of areas including self-improvement, inspiration, comfort and creativity.
If you want to take it to the next level you could even train as a hypnotherapist. Places like the London Hypnotherapy Training Provider https://icchp.com/ offer award winning hypnotherapy courses for a fulfilling and life changing career.
Journalling
There is something very therapeutic about writing things down. You don’t have to spend a long time on this if you don’t want. Just a couple of minutes a day or 10 minutes a week to reflect.
I love this little book ‘working on you for you’ which I was gifted. It has a reflection of the week and asks you to write down for each week:
- What makes you unhappy
- What you will focus on to make you happy
- Quotes to inspire
- Learnings from the week
- Best part of the week
It’s great to put your thoughts down and into perspective so you can focus on the positive.
Realising that it’s ok to make mistakes
We all mess up from time-to-time and you know what, that’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Mistakes are a chance to learn so brush yourself down, forgive yourself and move on. I know that can be easier said than done but remember we are all doing the best we can, but none of us are perfect!
It’s ok to be confident
Finally, being confident doesn’t mean you have to be egotistical, self-centred or conceited. You can still be kind and compassionate whilst loving the skin you’re in!
