Have you ever wanted to go on a glamping holiday with a difference? For something really unique and extremely special how about an Airstream caravan holiday in the UK? We had the perfect family glamping adventure staying in an Airstream caravan near to Greenwich in London.

Glamping in London: Abbey Wood Club Site
Abbey Wood Club Site is a Caravan and Motorhome Club Site in the suburbs of London and it’s the last place you would expect to find a campsite! It was such a surprise when we arrived to find a hidden oasis with beautiful tall trees and so much green space. It’s hard to believe you are just a short distance from Greenwich with amazing transport links into the centre of London.
The site welcomes tent camping, caravanners, campervanners, motorhomers and what’s more, it now also happens to have Experience Freedom glamping accommodation on site too which includes, glamping pods, camping pods and the Airstream caravans. So if you want to find the perfect place to go glamping in London look no further than Experience Freedom at Abbey Wood Club Site.
The Airstream Caravan
Of course, this is us, so when we arrived it was pouring with rain. As you may know from my previous camping and glamping posts, whenever we stay in a caravan it rains! Fortunately I had a warm welcome from the site staff who handed over the keys and gave me a map and directions to the Airstream. I jumped back in the car where my husband and son were waiting in the lay-by and we made our way to our pitch and parked in the allocated parking opposite to our caravan.
And wow what a sight awaited us. The Airstream caravans are beautiful. That’s the only way I can describe them. If I could afford one of these it would be taking up all the room in my driveway (no idea where I would park the car) and I would be going touring every weekend!
Why these Airstreams at Abbey Wood are so special

These are the Airstream Colarado Trailers, the largest airstream caravan model available in the UK. They are shiny (quite literally), modern and new!! The Airstream is handcrafted inside and out with a curved, buck riveted aluminium shell. It’s spec is luxurious and features:
- A panoramic front and rear windows
- Central heating (perfect for the UK)
- Leather upholstery
- Fixed double bed
- Second double bed that converts from sofas
- Small bathroom with rain-effect shower head, sink, toilet and heater.
- Oven and grill
- Three burner cook top
- Fridge/freezer
- Tinted windows and blinds
- TV
- Radio/CD/MP3 player
- Outside table and chairs
- Canvas canopy
- BBQ station with 1 disposable BBQ (further BBQs available to buy at reception)
There are user guides in the caravan which were very helpful. At the end of your break (and during depending on the length of your stay), you will need to change your toilet cassette. This really isn’t that difficult to do though, especially if you use the ‘CamperClean’ facility on site, an automated cassette sanitiser. If you would prefer though you can just use the toilet facilities on site and not use the toilet in the caravan.
Airstream Caravan Holidays in the UK
As well as Abbey Wood, Experience Freedom also has Airstream caravans at Brighton and Coniston Park Coppice in the Lake District.
Is an Airsteam holiday good for families?
Yes, it’s perfect for families! Luxurious and stylish caravanning with comfortable sleeping and living areas and an opportunity to enjoy plenty of fresh air on the spacious pitch and on the lovely site.
The site has a play park which my son loved. Greenwich is a short train journey away where your kids can explore the historic sailing ship, the Cutty Sark. London is easily accessible but the site offers an opportunity to relax at the end of a busy day out.

Disclaimer: this is not a paid ad or a gifted post but I do work for the Caravan and Motorhome Club and used a staff discount to stay in the airstream, available to all staff of the Club.

This looks like so much fun! I’ve never even been in an Air Stream. It sounds so much more luxurious than I imagined!
Oh wow how fun! Wish I had more time in London because this is something I would totally have been keen on trying, I love a good glamping trip with friends. Will have to save this for next time hehe
We love Airstreams – we recently sold our Bailey caravan and are ‘between vans’ at the moment (children outgrew the bunks in the old one). Would love a stand-out van like an airstream, but it’s a big weight to tow
I have wanted to stay in an airstream forever, since I saw one on a travel blog! What a great experience although I guess the small space can be a bit of a challenge with kids. How did you manage in the space?
I was a little worried about this at first but it was surprisingly ok as there is so much storage inside and even a storage box outside as well. The beds were really comfy and lots of room and being on a campsite there’s toilet facilities, showers, etc if needed and a lovely park for the kids. We were mostly outside despite the weather and the airstream has a canopy you can pull out for shelter from rain or sun if needed.
Sounds like a lively place to have a family holiday
I’ve always wanted to stay in an air steam, had no idea you could do it in London!
This looks like so much fun! My boys would love this, we need to try it soon!
I always wanted to try camping but it was putting me off the thought of cold. This seems as perfect for my little family as we like cousy and warm.
This looks like so much fun! We love taking our RV to new places!
Looks like you had a great time!
Would love to have seen more of the inside. Going to google it now. Glamping sure is so much fun and the fact that the site has good facilities is always a bonus. Loving the look of it
It really was fabulous. I have another blog with a vlog coming very soon about what we got up to during our stay and there is video footage of the pitch and interior of the airstream so watch this space.
If you want more info on the airstreams you can find this on http://www.experiencefreedom.co.uk
