Does your little one love a good story? Mine too and even better if there are beautiful illustrations that take your child’s imagination on a journey. Better still, if that story also translates into a fun and delicious recipe that you can make together. Xavier and his Magical Blueberry Muffins, a storybake cook book, ticks all these boxes!

Written by Anges de Sucre founder, Reshmi Bennett, the book is aimed to get kids baking with their parents. Xavier and his Magical Blueberry Muffins is available as a free PDF, or a limited edition print copy can be purchased.
Why is it good to bake with your kids?
Baking with your kids is a fun and educational activity that can teach them some valuable skills. It gives them a sense of accomplishment and responsibility. It also teaches them the importance of following instructions and measure ingredients, as well as valuable life skills such as patience, and how to work in a team.
It’s important to know that kids don’t necessarily need any extra help from you when it comes to baking. All they need is your supervision and guidance for what ingredients to use and your judgement to keep them safe when cooking. They’ll learn how to follow recipes, measure ingredients properly, mix the dough, and finally decorate their baked goods with frosting or sprinkles.
Baking with kids is also a great way to spend time with them. Time dedicated to your child helps their confidence and makes them feel valued. The benefits of baking with your kids are endless. You can teach them about nutrition and healthy eating habits. In fact it is is a great way to teach them about healthy eating, while also fostering their creativity and imagination.
Baking with children is a fun activity. It can get rather messy at times, but it’s so worth it! Children will be more willing to try new foods if they are involved in the cooking process too.
Why I loved this storybake cook book?
What a lovely story! The illustrations are beautiful, the rhyming words really take you through the process of baking in a fun and engaging way and the recipe method is so easy to read and follow. I also loved how the recipe was printed in full at the end. Although the PDF is free I definitely think it’s worth buying the book too as it’s a recipe that we will be making again and again.
Finally I love how it includes healthy ingredients in the recipe. As mentioned above this is so important for kids to understand nutritional benefits, and what better way to learn this through this imaginative story and recipe, and through cooking with your kids.

Why my son loved this story?
My son loved that the boy was making a recipe and he said that he also dreams about making cakes just like Xavier! In fact the illustration of the boy dreaming of all the cakes reminded me of my son!! He also loved how the story rhymed and finally we loved making the blueberry muffins together.
