The Boathouse Disney Springs Restaurant Review: Is it worth it?

Situated in the heart of Disney Springs, The Boathouse offers an experience that goes far beyond dining. It’s a place where the charm of Lake Buena Vista merges with unforgettable culinary excellence and a sprinkle of Disney magic. Recently, my husband, son, and I spent a lunch time here, enjoying not only mouth-watering dishes but also one of the most unique attractions Disney has to offer—the Amphicar tour. Here’s a glimpse into our special occasion that combined great food, waterfront views, and family memories we’ll cherish forever.

Dream Boats and a Ride of a Lifetime

Our experience kicked off with an incredible ride on one of The Boathouse’s iconic Amphicars. These dream boats are both car and boat, seamlessly transitioning from the dock to the tranquil waters of Lake Buena Vista. Guided by our Captain Dale, the ride was filled with fascinating snippets of history. He pointed out landmarks along the waterfront and introduced us to some of the fish species that inhabit the lake, adding an educational twist to the fun-filled adventure.

To make the experience even more magical, a Boathouse cast member captured the moment perfectly on camera. First, he took a photo of us by the Amphicar. Then snapped another from the dock as we drove into the lake and began cruising across the water.

Top Tip: If you’re interested in the photos, you can purchase them separately. However, if you have a Disney Photo Pass, be sure to ask at the time if the photos can be linked to it. Ours were added free of charge to the Walt Disney World app. It was super convenient to save and share these special memories.

A Feast Fit for a Magical Holiday

After the amazing Amphicar tour, it was time for what The Boathouse does best. An exceptional dining experience. Known for its fresh seafood, raw bar, and classic American fare, the menu promised a feast to remember. From the moment we stepped inside, the nautical-themed decor and impeccable service set the tone for a luxurious evening.

Starters That Set the Bar High

We began with The Boathouse’s famed Firecracker Shrimp. We ordered one each but in hindsight I wish we had shared as the the portion size was massive! Made with Sriracha mayo, tricolor sweet peppers, and sesame seeds, these crispy bites were bursting with flavour. The touch of sweetness balanced perfectly with the heat, making this dish an instant favourite. Pairing it with a refreshing sip of my white sangria cocktail—a mix of white wine, peach schnapps, and citrus juices—was pure bliss.

Main Courses That Wowed

For my entrée, I opted for the Petite Filet Mignon. While the menu called it “petite,” the 7oz cut was more than ample. Tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection, the steak was elevated further by the addition of Lobster Oscar, a decadent topping of lobster meat, asparagus, and creamy Béarnaise sauce. Earthy asparagus paired beautifully with the richness of lobster, while the Béarnaise added a velvety texture to every bite.

My husband chose the Gulf Lobster Tail, a dish that was equally impressive. The 16oz tail showcased unbelievably fresh seafood served with red potatoes, asparagus, and a generous helping of drawn butter. Every element was thoughtfully paired, from the buttery lobster to the hearty potatoes seasoned with just the right amount of herbs.

The Kids Menu at the Boathouse Disney Springs

For our son, the kids’ menu featured a fun surprise. Popcorn Shrimp served in a miniature Amphicar box. He absolutely loved the presentation and couldn’t stop talking about how cool it was. The portion size was just right, and the crispy, golden shrimp was evidently a hit.

When we sat down to look at the kids’ menu, I was genuinely impressed by the variety of options available. The choices ranged from classic kid favourites like chicken tenders, Mac N Cheese and the blue star angus burger to more adventurous options like grilled salmon and the popcorn shrimp. It was refreshing to see a menu that catered to both fussy eaters and those willing to try something a bit different.

Each kids’ meal comes with a beverage and a choice of sides, seasonal fruit or fries. Perfect for mixing things up depending on your little one’s preferences. And let’s not forget dessert! My son had the hardest time deciding between the chocolate cupcake and the Oreo Sundae. Spoiler: he went with the chocolate cake and loved every bite.

I really appreciated how the menu encouraged a little culinary exploration with options like salmon and shrimp while still offering reliable comfort foods for picky eaters. It’s a thoughtful balance that made dining out with my family so much easier—and enjoyable!

Signature Cocktails and Unbeatable Drinks at the Boathouse Disney Springs

My white sangria cocktail deserves its own mention. This delicious drink was a refreshing mix of peach schnapps, citrus fruits, and white wine. It perfectly complemented the bold flavours of our meal. The cocktail list at The Boathouse is exceptionally creative. There’s options like the Duck Duck Razz making it a hot spot for themed drinks that pair beautifully with a magical vacation. I’m definitely going to try this next time we go back!

Desserts Worth Saving Room For

Though we were thoroughly satisfied with our mains, dessert was too tempting to pass up. We shared the sinfully rich macadamia turtle pie, as desserts here are perfect for two. It was topped with creamy Homer’s Vanilla Ice Cream and drizzled with luscious chocolate and caramel sauces. Pure indulgence in every bite. The Boathouse is also famous for the delicious traditional strawberry shortcake. This is seasonal though, so we’ll definitely be coming back to try it when it’s back on the menu!

Themed Restaurants with a Disney Twist

Dining at The Boathouse isn’t just about the food; it’s about the entire atmosphere. The waterfront dining offered incredible views of Lake Buena Vista. From the yacht club vibes to the private dining rooms for those seeking a more intimate experience, this restaurant nails every detail.

The attentive staff also contributed to making our evening unforgettable. They were quick to offer recommendations, share stories, and effortlessly cater to our every need. The blend of hospitality and Disney magic gave The Boathouse its claim to “best service” in the area.

Must-Try Dishes and Drinks on our Next Visit

While our choices made for an epic meal, the menu at The Boathouse is extensive. There’s so much more we’d love to try in the future. Some standout mentions from their offerings include the Maine Lobster Bisque, Pan-Roasted Corvina, and the Yellowfin Tuna, each designed to highlight fresh fish and seafood. For those craving a steak, the New York Strip paired with crispy Yukon potatoes or maitre d’ butter sounds equally tempting.

Dessert lovers can choose from options like passion fruit cheesecake or the creative Key Lime Pie Martini for a sweet after dinner drink.

The Magic of Disney Springs

What makes The Boathouse such an exceptional dining location is its seamless integration into the larger experience of Disney Springs. With its themed rooms, nautical decor, and signature cocktails, it feels like both a retreat and an adventure. Whether you plan to stay for lunch or dinner, the combination of fresh seafood, waterfront views, and impeccable service guarantees it’ll be a meal to remember.

The Amphicar tour is an unmissable highlight, perfect for families seeking something unique. It’s not every day you get to ride in a car that splashes into a lake, combining an exciting outing with a deeper connection to Disney’s storytelling.

Our visit to The Boathouse at Disney Springs was the perfect combination of great food, family fun, and Disney magic. From the Amphicar ride to succulent seafood dishes, every part of the experience was well-crafted and memorable. The white sangria cocktail is my new favourite drink.
