Caravanning in the rain: our New Forest adventure

We’ve had such glorious weather this summer. We’ve enjoyed weekends away and days out in the sunshine so I guess it’s only to be expected that the weekend of our New Forest adventure the heavens decided to open and the sun did not make an appearance at any point during our stay (well not until […]

Mumpreneur: How to make money by investing in Property

Buying a property can be one of the strongest and wisest financial decisions you make. After all, putting your money in bricks and mortar will hopefully mean that in the long-term you have increased your investment and made some profit. However, it doesn’t always mean just buying the house you live in and leaving it […]

AD | Gifted experience 🇨🇦 We found a complet AD | Gifted experience 🇨🇦 We found a completely different way to see Toronto… from Lake Ontario. 🚢✨I had already seen the city from above at the CN Tower, but seeing that famous skyline from the water was something else. 💛We joined City Cruises Toronto for an evening dinner cruise and watched the city change right in front of us. From blue skies and sunshine, golden hour and an incredible sunset, to moonlight over the lake and finally the CN Tower and Toronto skyline sparkling after dark. 🌅🌙✨And yes, we did it as a family and it’s the perfect experience to enjoy together. After a few hours on the road driving to Toronto, it was such a lovely way to spend our first evening in the city. Slowing down, having a delicious dinner and a glass of wine, and simply enjoying those incredible views. My son loved being out on the water too and we even had a dance at the onboard disco! 📍 Toronto, Ontario🚢 City Cruises Toronto🌅 Evening sunset dinner cruiseSave this for your Toronto trip 🇨🇦We were kindly hosted by City Cruises Toronto for this experience. 📍 Where to stay in Toronto with kids 🇨🇦 📍 Where to stay in Toronto with kids 🇨🇦Ad | If you’re planning a family trip to Toronto, save this hotel! ❤️We spent 3 nights at Chelsea Hotel Toronto and I genuinely couldn’t believe how much there was for families to do inside the hotel itself. Our Executive Double gave us plenty of space for the three of us (and a balcony overlooking downtown Toronto 🙌), but the real winner was the 130ft corkscrew waterslide. Safe to say, it was tested more than once! 😂There’s also a family pool, Teen Lounge, sauna, kids’ entertainment and Elm Tavern where we enjoyed great food, drinks and live music. And then you step outside and you’re right in downtown Toronto, making it a brilliant base for exploring the city. We visited Ripleys Aquarium. CN Tower, Toronto Islands, the waterfront and a Blue Jays game during our stay. My favourite Chelsea Hotel sign has to be:✨ “Proof you made the right choice.”After three nights here, I think we did. ❤️⭐️ SAVE this for your Toronto trip✈️ FOLLOW @workingmumlife.mybalancingact for more family travel tips, hotel reviews and our Canada road trip.Comment ‘Chelsea’ or see the link in my bio to book this hotel. Would your kids head straight for the waterslide too? 😂👇We were gifted tickets to Ripley’s Aquarium and as guests of the hotel you receive a discount on Ripleys as well as other selected Toronto attractions. 🐍 Well… we weren’t expecting THIS on Toront 🐍 Well… we weren’t expecting THIS on Toronto Island! 😳One minute we were happily walking along, the next my son accidentally stepped on this little guy! 🫣Thankfully, the snake was completely unharmed (as was my son!) and after giving us a bit of a fright, he very cutely slithered off on his way. 💚Definitely one of the more unexpected wildlife encounters from our Canadian road trip — and it feels like the perfect clip to share for #NationalWildlifeDay. 🌿🐍Would you have screamed… or stopped to get a closer look? #NationalWildlifeDay #TorontoIsland #TorontoWildlife #FamilyTravel CanadaTravel

This weekend was a big one for me. I took my son This weekend was a big one for me.I took my son paddleboarding for the very first time. That might not sound like a big deal to many people, but for those who don’t know, my brother died in 2010 in a kayaking accident. It changed my life forever and broke our hearts.Since then, I haven’t kayaked again or even tried paddleboarding. But my son is an adventurous ten-year-old, and in just a few weeks we’re heading to Canada for an incredible family adventure, where we’ll have the opportunity to paddleboard on some of Ontario’s beautiful lakes. That’s why we booked a paddleboarding taster session on the River Rother in Bodiam. It was brilliant. It was just me, my son, his friend and our amazing instructor Lisa – who also happened to be from Canada. What are the chances?!She gave me so much advice about how to paddleboard safely and confidently. We all attempted different challenges on the boards (the boys were doing 360° turns and jumps while I was celebrating managing tiny hops… but hey, I gave it a go! 😂).Of course, that meant we all fell in... quite a few times! The boys thought it was hilarious and loved cooling off in the water. And, actually, falling in turned out to be one of the most valuable parts of the lesson because our instructor showed me exactly how to get back onto the board safely in deep water. My son was an absolute natural, and I couldn’t have been prouder of him. I’d like to think his Uncle Simon was looking down with a huge smile on his face too. ❤️For a long time, grief made the thought of getting back on the water in this way feel impossible. But this weekend reminded me that moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting. It means honouring the people we’ve lost while still allowing ourselves to make new memories. It wasn’t easy, and there were definitely emotional moments, but I’m so glad I didn’t let heartbreak stop us from living our lives or stop my son from discovering something he absolutely loves. Here’s to new adventures, facing fears one step at a time, and making memories I know we’ll treasure forever. 🇨🇦🏄‍♀️❤️#Paddleboarding #VisitSussex #FamilyAdventure #OutdoorFamily #FacingMyFears
✨Save this for your next London day out! POV: y ✨Save this for your next London day out!POV: you found the most magical place to eat in London ✨🫖Ad/PR inviteWe were invited to step into Neverland at the Peter Pan Afternoon Tea at Aqua Shard. Sitting 31 floors above London inside The Shard, with some of the most breathtaking views across the city, my son declared this was the best restaurant ever. And it has to be one of the most enchanting afternoon teas in London. We were so high we could honestly imagine Peter Pan and Wendy flying by.Every detail was magical. Our cream tea scones arrived hidden inside a treasure chest, opening to reveal an infinity mirror that seemed to go on forever. Oh and I did cream first, then the jam - is that the right way?! Then came the sweetest surprise of all... a miniature pirate ship, surrounded by swirling mist, carrying the most beautiful selection of sweet treats. It genuinely felt as though it had sailed straight out of Neverland. It’s just magical for children and for adults too - especially as I got to enjoy a gorgeous glass of champagne alongside the afternoon tea. ✨ If you’re looking for a truly magical London experience, this deserves a place at the top of your list.Who would you take with you? 💚#PeterPanAfternoonTea #AquaShard #TheShardLondon #LondonAfternoonTea #LondonWithKids
If you’re heading to Stranger Things: The First If you’re heading to Stranger Things: The First Shadow, here’s a London itinerary I’d happily recommend.🎁 The theatre tickets were a present from my husband through Virgin Experiences, to celebrate my birthday. Just the two of us and a real treat. 💙💛🍸 We paired the show with lunch at Tigermilk Soho who kindly gifted us a meal (Ad). Tigermilk is just one minute from the Pheonix theatre. We tried the £39 pre theatre menu after the matinee performance, it works just as well before an evening show.Stranger Things is one of the most immersive theatre experiences we’ve ever experienced. No spoilers from me… but if you’re a Stranger Things fan, you’re in for something really special. And yes... we had to finish with cheesecake (swipe right). 🍰✨ Save this for your next London theatre day out.Have you seen Stranger Things: The First Shadow yet, or is it on your list?#LondonTheatre #StrangerThings #StrangerThingsTheFirstShadow #SohoLondon #Tigermilk

Happy Mother’s Day 💐 This year I did somethi Happy Mother’s Day 💐This year I did something a little different… instead of the usual fresh flowers that last a few days, I gave my mum this beautiful faux bouquet. And honestly? She thought they were real when I handed them to her. The peach peonies and roses are so realistic 🌸I love giving flowers, but I also love gifts that last longer than a week. Now she can keep this on her table and it will remind her of today every time she sees it 🤍It actually made me realise how much faux flowers have changed – they’re nothing like the ones we used to see years ago.I’ve written a blog post about why faux flowers are becoming such a big Mother’s Day trend and how they compare to fresh flowers if you’re curious. You can read it via the link in my bio where I also share how to style Faux Flowers and share more close up photos 🌷And tell me in the comments…Do you prefer fresh flowers or faux flowers for gifts? 👇ad gifted bouquet from @floralsilkflowers #mothersdayflowers#artificialflowers#flowerlovers#homeinspogiftideasformum

Here is one thing you need to do before Christmas! Here is one thing you need to do before Christmas! The other weekend we popped into the @lego store in Brighton and found out all about Build To Give.A very lovely member of the Lego store told us that if we built a Lego heart and posted a picture of our hearts on our socials using #BuildToGive - Lego will donate a Lego set to a child in hospital. How nice is that? So we of course immediately built our hearts! My mum was a nurse in a children’s ward for many years back in the 80s and she always remembers comforting a little boy on Christmas Day who was upset because Santa hadn’t visited him. How lovely of Lego that they have this initiative so all children can feel loved and special! So if you have a spare moment get your Lego out and build a heart to share on your socials with the hashtag #buildtogive #lego
