It’s here! What every little Paddington Bear fan has been waiting for – the brand new The Adventures of Paddington magazine from Redan’s Fun to Learn. And my goodness it is fun to learn in this interactive magazine aimed at 3 to 6 year olds. It’s absolutely perfect for my reluctant little 5 year old learner as it’s so fun I don’t think he’s actually realised yet that it’s educational too!

Paddington Stories: Read
Paddington Bear has to be one of my son’s favourite fictional characters, both the story book and the cartoon. In Issue 1 of this new magazine there are two stories, one where Paddington meets Pigeonton – one my my son’s favourite episodes from the cartoon. This is in a comic book style and is lots of fun. Towards the end of the magazine there is also a story in the form of a letter to Aunt Lucy. Perfect for a bedtime story.
Paddington Learn
The Paddington magazine supports the Early Years Curriculum, helping children to develop key skills. It also makes it fun to learn. Take the Balloon Maze in issue 1. This helps with counting, drawing, observation, pen control, reading and writing – all in one go! There’s even a little bit of geography thrown in as Paddington floats over London!
There is also a12 page workbook with fun learning activities that supports the ABC Learning Curriculum. There’s colouring, spot the difference, a sticker jigsaw, counting and writing practice. Plus there’s lots of stickers too! And as we know every kid loves a sticker (and apparently some cats too – see pic below)!!
Paddington Make: Baking and Crafts
Each issue comes with something fun to make. In this issue there was a craft activity and a recipe to bake your very own Pawprint Cookies (recipe to follow on a future blog post). The recipe is part of Redan’s ‘Take time make memories’ initiative encouraging special family time together creating crafts, recipes and playing games away from the screen. We certainly enjoyed making our pawprint cookies and they were fun and easy to make – plus they taste delicious. Sam helped with every part of the process – he was an expert mixer but an even better taster! He was great at reading out the measurements when I was weighing the ingredients and it’s another useful way to help children with maths, numbers and understanding quantities.
Paddington Play
Each episode comes with Paddington gifts. This issue was all about shopping and the gifts were related to this with a shopping trolley, pretend coin, card machine and coins. My son loved taking my payment for my shoppingin the card machine. Great for creative and imaginative play time.
There’s also a game in each issue. This week was sticker bingo where you roll the dice to make the numbers and stick corresponding stickers to your bingo card if you have that number. Lots of fun!
So if you want a fun packed learning magazine with 36 pages filled with a stimulating mix of stickers, stories, crafts, recipes, a themed 12-page workbook, games, posters and cut-out activities – then look no further! The Paddington magazine is so much fun and the final word from my son is, “It’s really cool, I love Paddington and I love the cookies even more!” So they you go. It gets the 5 year old seal of approval and we even got to practice writing words too ( a usually much hated task)!
