The importance of looking after yourself in 2025

Taking care of yourself has never been more on-trend than in 2025. There are many ways where self-care can be used to boost your wellbeing.

Looking after yourself includes both your mental and physical health and the two are inextricably intertwined. 2025 could be the year of change for you, so here are some tips to help you focus on your wellbeing in the coming months.

Embracing nature for mental health

There have been several studies in recent years that show the link between nature and reduced mental health symptoms such as stress, anxiety and depression.

Simply spending a lunch break in your local park, or heading for a walk at the weekends can be such a healing activity for you. The solitude of nature combined with the sounds of the local wildlife and trees in the breeze can let your mind relax and stay away from negative or stressful thoughts.

Walking isn’t the only nature-based activity you can do. Ecotherapy is anything that you do whilst being outside. This includes things like volunteering with animals, nature arts and crafts and even horticulture.

The role of physical activity

The link between your physical and mental health is undeniable, so you need to focus on both parts to create a healthy human.

‘Green exercise’ is a great way to combine the serenity of the outdoors with physical activity. A simple walk counts, as does running, wild swimming and cycling.

There are organisations which organise wellbeing walks where they focus on grounding you to nature and allow you to move your body whilst enjoying the scenery around you.

Wellness trends to watch

Wellness, like other industries, is always changing and finding new ways to help you take care of yourself. In the coming year, certain therapies will become huge so keep an eye out for them.

Sound healing uses vibrations and noise to promote wellness and healing. This is a practice which can be found throughout thousands of years of history and remains largely unchanged. Sound healing aims to reduce symptoms caused by a whole host of illnesses such as PTSD, dementia, anxiety and cancer.

Digital detoxes have been on the rise in recent years, with celebrities and influencers promoting the benefits of their own experiences. Digital detoxes involve taking a break from all things device-related such as phones, computers and social media. Taking time away from the online world allows you to refocus on your priorities and focus on doing things that make you feel good.

Planning wellness-focused holidays

It is becoming common for individuals to plan holidays specifically around wellness. Whether you choose to jet off abroad to a yoga retreat or want to explore the natural beauty of the UK from a holiday park, wellness holidays can work wonders.

Whilst the whole holiday doesn’t need to be active and focused on physical exercise, you may find that you end up doing more than you intended simply by getting out into the local area and exploring.
