We recently took Zavi Zebra, the long hot water bottle and super soft cuddly friend, with us on our caravanning trip to Longleat Club Site; and I’m not quite sure what we would have done without him!

Camping in the UK

I thought it would be fine. It’s June, the sun will be shining. How wrong could I have been! It didn’t stop raining at night, so bad one evening, our awning actually collapsed. We loved the caravan, but the heating wasn’t working and it was cold! It actually felt like winter.

Whilst I sat there shivering in the awning, wishing I had packed another two or three jumpers to layer over the thick jumper I was already wearing, my three year old son was nice and snug, cuddled up to Zavi Zebra. He sat with him in the awning of an evening and then cuddled in to him at night, keeping the damp and the chill away.

My son, Sam, has been in hospital twice with bronchiolitis. Although hopefully he is now over this particularly horrendous childhood illness, I was very pleased we had Zavi to keep him warm as he still suffers from bad coughs and chest from time to time.

Summertime hacks – how to use your hot water bottle in the summer

1. Keep you little one’s bed cool in the night

There is nothing worse than hot summer nights, stuffy rooms and both you and your little ones struggling to sleep because of the stifling heat.

Keep you little ones bed cool to help them get to sleep in the heat. Fill your long hot water bottle up with cool ice water and then leave it stretched out on your child’s bed. As these are long bottles, they are perfect to get the bed sheet cool just before your little one goes off to sleep.

2. Take Zavi camping and glamping with you

We love staying under canvas but it can get damp and cold in the night. If you take Zavi Zebra with you, then you can be sure your little ones will be nice and warm and comfy.

3. Stay warm at outdoor parties and BBQs

It’s summertime and we love a BBQ, however our weather in the UK doesn’t always agree. But we’re British, so we carry on regardless!
