The best time to visit Lanzarote with your family
Lanzarote is a wonderful destination for families because of the year-round sunshine. The best time to visit Lanzarote with kids is during the spring and autumn months, when temperatures are milder, and crowds are smaller. Summers in Lanzarote can be very hot, with temperatures rising, so it’s important to pack sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water. Winter temperatures in Lanzarote are still mild but be prepared for occasional rain showers. Also, if you’re visiting in winter, check to make sure your hotel has outdoor pools that are heated, as otherwise, it might be a bit of a shock to you and the kids!
How to Book Safely for Your Lanzarote Holiday
One of my top tips is to book with a travel company that is part of the ATOL scheme so your holiday is protected. We travelled to Lanzarote with Jet2holidays, which gave us peace of mind. Check the booking conditions before you confirm, and then sit back and look forward to your holiday!
Top things to do in Lanzarote with kids – Beaches and Water Parks
Lanzarote is famous for its beautiful beaches, and there are plenty of family-friendly options to choose from. Here are my top 5 recommendations:
1. Costa Teguise Aqua Park
This is one of the most popular water parks in Lanzarote, and it is perfect for children of all ages. The park features a variety of slides, wave pools and a lazy river. Your kids can never get enough of the fun at Costa Teguise Aqua Park. The park is open from April to October, so make sure to plan your visit around that.
2. Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park
Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park is both a water park and a zoo. The park is home to a variety of animals, and you and your kids can participate in shows and animal encounters that take place throughout the day. Also, there is a splash park with children’s pools where your kids can cool off and enjoy the slides after the animal shows. If you are a lover of animals, Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park is the perfect place to be.
3. Playa Blanca
When planning a family holiday to Lanzarote, one location stands out as a must-visit: Playa Blanca. As the name suggests, Playa Blanca, which means “White Beach”, is a stunning beach located on the southernmost town of Lanzarote. It’s renowned for its pristine white sandy beaches, calm turquoise waters, and an array of family-friendly activities that make it a perfect destination for families.
Playa Blanca is not just one beach but a collection of smaller, beautiful beaches, each offering a unique experience for visitors.
One of the top reasons why Playa Blanca is a great choice for families is the tranquillity it offers. The shallow waters near the shoreline are ideal for young children to splash around with their parents or guardians. Plus, many of the beaches proudly fly the Blue Flag, indicating it meets high standards for cleanliness and environmental management.
Beyond the beach, Playa Blanca offers a variety of activities to keep the whole family entertained. Take a short walk along the seafront promenade full of restaurants, shops, and bars offering stunning sea views. Older children might enjoy water sports such as snorkelling and paddleboarding, while younger ones could have fun building sandcastles or playing at the children’s playground found nearby.
4. Aqualava Waterpark
Aqualava Waterpark is located in Playa Blanca and features a variety of exciting water slides, wave pools and lazy rivers.
5. Papagayo Beach
Finally, Papagayo Beach is a crescent-shaped, secluded beach that is perfect for swimming with your family. The water is normally calm (check the flags), and the sand is fine. The soft white sand beaches leading to crystal clear sea water are considered among the best in Europe and worth exploring with your loved ones. Also, there are restaurants nearby where you can grab something to eat and drink so that you can spend the entire day here.

Family-friendly accommodation in Lanzarote
Lanzarote has some of the best family-friendly hotels in the Canary Islands. Many of them have family rooms, splash parks, kids club, live music, table tennis and hotel pools. We had an all inclusive holiday at the Gran Castillo Tagoro with Jet2holidays. It was a fantastic hotel and perfect for all ages. The hotel room had plenty of space for all the family, and it truly was one of the best family holidays we have ever had! The Kids Club was wonderful for both older kids and younger children, with lots of fun activities and soft play. It was the perfect stress-free package holiday.

The great thing about Lanzarote is that there are plenty of family-friendly accommodations to choose from, ranging from budget-friendly options to luxury resorts. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort experience, consider the Sands Beach Resort or the H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens.
