If you’re planning a magical evening at Disneyland Paris, the fireworks show is the absolute highlight you won’t want to miss. In 2025 a new nighttime spectacular was introduced, Disney Tales of Magic, which replaces Disney Illuminations and Disney Dreams. These jaw-dropping displays combine projections complete with sound effects, fountains, and a soaring Disney soundtrack that enchants visitors of all ages. The mix of iconic songs and projections of Disney animations make this new fireworks show still just as fantastic as any of the other nighttime shows, if not more!
My son has been captivated by the fireworks since he was two—he’s now nine! After dozens of evenings spent staking out Main Street and the castle, I’ve put together my best tips to help your family get the most out of Disneyland Paris’ night time magic.

When are the Disneyland Paris Fireworks?
- Disney Illuminations currently thrills crowds every single night at Disneyland Park, right at closing time. Times do vary by season (typically between 9.00pm and 11.00pm).
- Pro tip: Check the official Disneyland Paris app for the exact time on your visit, as showtimes shift with sunset and park opening hours.
How to Get the Best Fireworks Spot (for Free)
Most visitors fill up Main Street, hoping to glimpse the show and Sleeping Beauty Castle. But some spots are much better than others. Here’s my top Disneyland Paris tips to find the best viewing area.
Top free viewing spots for Disneyland Paris fireworks show:
- Central Plaza: Get there at least 60 minutes early and park yourself close to the centre for an unobstructed Sleeping Beauty Castle view. Be warned there is a lot of pushing and shoving that takes place. It can be upsetting and stressful so you may prefer a quieter area.
- Castle Stage Left (between the castle and the entrance to Discoveryland): Often less crowded and still excellent for viewing projection effects, this is one of my favourite places to view without feeling like I’m packed like a sardine!
- Centre Stage Railings:If you go behind the railings you have a better chance of not having people push in front of you plus a clearer view as no one in front of you.
- Main Street USA crossroads: While further from the action, you’ll soak up the magical lighting and waterfall displays, and it’s easier to leave at the end.
Bonus for families: If you have little ones, standing further back along Main Street can actually be less overwhelming for younger viewers (and much easier if you need to make a quick exit before the crowds).
How to Secure a Front Row Spot (Reserved Area Tips)
If you absolutely must be front and centre for the full spectacular, consider:
- Book the Reserved Viewing Area. These get booked up fast so don’t leave it too late. I often get asked if it’s worth the money. In my opinion it absolutely is! Me and my son had front row seats last August and it was magical. You do need to get there early for the front row but any spot in the reserved area is fantastic and everyone watched sitting on the ground when we went which meant unobstructed views. We had a clear view of not only the illuminations but also projections of Disney characters onto sleeping beauty castle. it’s the perfect place to view after a busy day at Disneyland Paris. - Take a VIP Tour: A VIP Tour is the ultimate way to get the most out of your Disney experience. As well as your own VIP Guide, you get speedy access to the attractions and super fast meet and greets. You also get front-row spots at shows and parades subject to availability at the time of booking. Although worth noting all attractions and shows are subject to change or cancellation without notice. Personal tip: When my son was small, I sometimes invested in these upgrades just to avoid the hustle and have some peace of mind!
Restaurants with Fireworks Views
You don’t need to jostle with crowds to enjoy the fireworks! Some restaurants offer unique vantage points:
- The Plaza Gardens Restaurant: Large windows offer a (slightly distant) view, best combined with a late dinner reservation. It’s not the best view though and you would need a window spot to really enjoy!
- La Table de Lumiere in Disneyland Hotel – You will need to request a table with firework views and it’s most defintiely not the cheapest option but it’s a great way to take in the fireworks away from the madding crowds!
Best Photo Ops for Disneyland Paris Fireworks
Capture the magic with these photo-perfect locations:
- Directly in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle: For classic castle-and-fireworks shots, arrive early to hold your place.
- Across the moat from the castle: Fountains and breathtaking lighting effects reflect beautifully off the water.
- At the start of Main Street: The castle makes for a dreamy, atmospheric shot.
Personal favourite: I have a photo of my son, age eight, right at the front of the lit up castle when we reserved the viewing area. You can almost feel the wonder in the photo! That’s why in my opinion it’s worth paying the extra for the stress free magic and photo ops!
5 Tips for Families with Children
- Noise Protection: Fireworks can be loud! Bring noise-reducing headphones for sensitive ears.
- Snacks & Water: The wait can be long; pack snacks and drinks to keep everyone happy.
- Layer Up: Nights get chilly, even in summer. Bring cosy jumpers or blankets.
- Set Expectations: Prepare little ones for crowds and waiting, and have a plan if they get bored waiting, tired or overwhelmed.
- Use a Buggy or Carrier for Toddlers: Makes it easier to move through crowds after the show. Add sone fairy lights so the buggy can be clearly seen.
- If you’re pregnant: If you’re pregnant you can apply for a priority bracelet, often referred to as a ‘bambi band’ or ‘pregnancy band’. This allows you priorty access area with two others for the fireworks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Disneyland Paris have fireworks every night?
Not necessarily but normally. Although the fireworks show at Disneyland Paris is on most nights, it is subject to change depending on weather conditions or special events.
How do I book the reserved viewing area?
If you’ve made up your mind that you want to book the reserved viewing area, it’s not guaranteed that you will be able to as spaces are limited and book up quickly. If you book direct with Disney you can book as far in advance as soon as they’ve released tickets. Elsewhere times vary and tend to be just a week in advance at which point often there’s no spaces left.
Top Tip: If you book your Disney Tickets via Attraction Tickets they tend to release tickets much earlier for the reserved fireworks.
What time does the fireworks show start?
The exact start time of the fireworks show varies depending on the season and day of the week. However, it usually begins around 10:00 pm during peak season and starts earlier during off-peak times (around 9pm). It is recommended to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot.
As the times chage depending on season and other factors the best place to check is on the Disneyland Paris app.
Can I bring my own snacks and drinks to watch the fireworks?
Yes, you are allowed to bring your own snacks and drinks to enjoy while watching the fireworks show. However, please remember to dispose of any rubbish properly in designated areas.
Can I bring a tripod or selfie stick for taking photos during the fireworks?
No. Selfie sticks are not allowed in the parks.
Are there fireworks at Walt Disney Studios Park?
The main fireworks show is always at Disneyland Park, not Walt Disney Studios Park. Studios sometimes host its own projection or drone displays for special events and with new areas of Studios coming soon watch this space! This will include an all-new nighttime show at Disney Adventure World (the new Frozen area of Studios. It will feature giant water screens, fountains, special effects ew water drone technology for a show never seen before at Disneyland Paris. There may not be fireworks but it will be spectacular!
Do drones feature in the fireworks show?
Increasingly, yes! Recent nighttime spectaculars have included drone effects, especially during anniversary years.
Can I leave before the final crowd surges?
Yes, but you’ll miss the show finale. Choose a spot closer to Main Street’s entrance for a faster exit.
Is the show suitable for small children?
Absolutely—but use the family tips above to keep the night magical for everyone. Be aware there’s a lot of pushing and the crowds are no joke so you may want to find a quiet spot or reserve the fireworks area. To avoid the crowds leaving you may also want to wait for the first rush or be close to the exit.
Are the rides still open during the fireworks?
The park closes when the fireworks begin. It’s a great time to do the rides just before though as queues are often a lot quieter. The rides nearest to the castle do tend to close around an hour before the fireworks start though so prepare for this.
Final Thoughts
Watching the Disneyland Paris fireworks show is a truly enchanting way to end your day at the park. It can also be overwhelming with the crowds though which can ruin the magical experience for you. Hopefully with the right spot and a few of these tried-and-tested tips, you’ll walk away with memories that last a lifetime (and some magical photos too). Whether you’re coming to Disneyland Paris for your first visit or your fiftieth, this night time spectacular is the perfect end to a day at Disney.
