Gifted | Looking for something a little bit differ Gifted | Looking for something a little bit different for kids this Halloween in Sussex? We climbed an ancient oak tree 🌳🎃My son climbed way higher than me. Swipe for the real story, including my honest mum moment with my upper body strength 😅Canopy Tree Climbing at Borde Hill in Haywards Heath is a proper outdoor adventure for families. You go up into a huge oak tree with arborist kit and instructors talking you through every step, surrounded by gold and orange autumn leaves. We loved every minute. Can adults do it too? Absolutely. I did, so why let the kids have all the fun? And if it’s not for you, plenty of parents were watching happily from the ground.Good to know:🌳 Last chance: it finishes Saturday 31 October🌳 Ages 6+, with no upper age limit🌳 Book ahead onlineMy top tips:🧤 Bring gloves to protect your hands on the ropes🧥 If the weather’s dry, skip the jacket. It gets hot climbing up!🍰 Go for cake afterwards in the Borde Hill café. You’ve earned itA brilliant autumn day out in West Sussex, and a nice change from pumpkin picking.💬 Comment CLIMB and I’ll DM you the booking link📌 Save this as it might be coming back for the summer too, and send it to the friend who’d climb it with you#SussexDaysOut #HalloweenSussex #HalfTermIdeas #WestSussex #TreeClimbingUK
Gifted | Would you climb to the top of this tree? Gifted | Would you climb to the top of this tree? 🍂This ancient oak at Borde Hill in Haywards Heath is one of the best things we’ve done this half term. Ropes, harnesses, expert instructors and a view across the autumn colours of Sussex. My son climbed way higher than me, and my arms are still recovering 😅It’s only on until Saturday 31 October, so this weekend is your last chance.💬 Comment CLIMB and I’ll send you the booking link👉 Full details in my next postBe honest…would you make it to the top? #TreeClimbing #SussexDaysOut #AutumnInSussex #HalloweenSussex #BordeHill
We sent him to wizard school. He came back with a We sent him to wizard school. He came back with a spell that turned me into a poop 💩🪄AD | PR visit: our tickets were gifted by The Milky Way Adventure ParkWe spent half term in North Devon staying with family, and looking for things to do in North Devon with kids that would keep a 10-year-old happy (and keep us dry with the crazy storm that wrecked so many people’s plans). The Milky Way near Clovelly ticked every box.His highlight was the Halloween School for Witches & Wizards: potion making, spell writing and a proper wax-sealed certificate. Mine was going down the giant tube slide. Not just for the kids 😅What we did:🪄 Wizard school + potion making💨 Live science show (the air cannon smoke ring!)🚂 Train ride past the rollercoasters🔫 Laser ride👽 Sci-fi expo, which is indoors, so handy on a rainy day in Devon🦉 Bird show🧗 Ninja course (the only extra all day, £2.95)Everything else was included in the ticket. There are 25+ things to do and we ran out of time to do them all, so get there for opening and plan around the show times.📍 The Milky Way Adventure Park, Higher Clovelly, near Bideford, North Devon🎃 Halloween activities run over half termSave this for your next half term or rainy day in North Devon 📌Be honest: what would YOUR kid’s first spell be? Anyone else possibly getting turning into a poop?! 😂👇#NorthDevon #ThingsToDoInDevon #DevonWithKids #HalfTermIdeas #FamilyDaysOut RainyDayIdeas
POV: you just boarded Sussex’s ghost train… 👻🚂AD | Press night invite from @bluebell_railway The Ghost Train at Bluebell Railway is one of the best Halloween things to do in Sussex with kids this half-term, and honestly? SO worth it. It exceeded all my expectations! My son absolutely loved it: quite scary, but in that fun, give you chills and make you laugh way, never too terrifying 😅You meet the ghosts on board the steam train, follow the clues around Horsted Keynes station to uncover the mystery, then wait for the finale… that skull train with the sparks. This is interactive theatre at its best. 💀✨Good to know before you go:🚂 Departs Sheffield Park, East Sussex at 6:30pm (arrive by 6pm)👻 No jump scares, just spooky fun.👦 PG, so best for older kids and adults (under-16s must be with a grown-up)🧥 Wrap up warm, train was nice and warm, but lots of it is outdoors so I suggest layers.🎟️ Tickets available to book online. 📅 Running until Sunday 1 November, so perfect for October half-term💌 Comment GHOST and I’ll DM you the booking linkSave this for half-term 🎃 and tag who you’d take!Would you be brave enough? 👇#BluebellRailway #HalloweenInSussex #ThingsToDoInSussex #SussexWithKids #HalfTermIdeas

AD | Gifted experience 🇨🇦 We found a complet AD | Gifted experience 🇨🇦 We found a completely different way to see Toronto… from Lake Ontario. 🚢✨I had already seen the city from above at the CN Tower, but seeing that famous skyline from the water was something else. 💛We joined City Cruises Toronto for an evening dinner cruise and watched the city change right in front of us. From blue skies and sunshine, golden hour and an incredible sunset, to moonlight over the lake and finally the CN Tower and Toronto skyline sparkling after dark. 🌅🌙✨And yes, we did it as a family and it’s the perfect experience to enjoy together. After a few hours on the road driving to Toronto, it was such a lovely way to spend our first evening in the city. Slowing down, having a delicious dinner and a glass of wine, and simply enjoying those incredible views. My son loved being out on the water too and we even had a dance at the onboard disco! 📍 Toronto, Ontario🚢 City Cruises Toronto🌅 Evening sunset dinner cruiseSave this for your Toronto trip 🇨🇦We were kindly hosted by City Cruises Toronto for this experience. 📍 Where to stay in Toronto with kids 🇨🇦 📍 Where to stay in Toronto with kids 🇨🇦Ad | If you’re planning a family trip to Toronto, save this hotel! ❤️We spent 3 nights at Chelsea Hotel Toronto and I genuinely couldn’t believe how much there was for families to do inside the hotel itself. Our Executive Double gave us plenty of space for the three of us (and a balcony overlooking downtown Toronto 🙌), but the real winner was the 130ft corkscrew waterslide. Safe to say, it was tested more than once! 😂There’s also a family pool, Teen Lounge, sauna, kids’ entertainment and Elm Tavern where we enjoyed great food, drinks and live music. And then you step outside and you’re right in downtown Toronto, making it a brilliant base for exploring the city. We visited Ripleys Aquarium. CN Tower, Toronto Islands, the waterfront and a Blue Jays game during our stay. My favourite Chelsea Hotel sign has to be:✨ “Proof you made the right choice.”After three nights here, I think we did. ❤️⭐️ SAVE this for your Toronto trip✈️ FOLLOW @workingmumlife.mybalancingact for more family travel tips, hotel reviews and our Canada road trip.Comment ‘Chelsea’ or see the link in my bio to book this hotel. 🐍 Well… we weren’t expecting THIS on Toront 🐍 Well… we weren’t expecting THIS on Toronto Island! 😳One minute we were happily walking along, the next my son accidentally stepped on this little guy! 🫣Thankfully, the snake was completely unharmed (as was my son!) and after giving us a bit of a fright, he very cutely slithered off on his way. 💚Definitely one of the more unexpected wildlife encounters from our Canadian road trip — and it feels like the perfect clip to share for #NationalWildlifeDay. 🌿🐍Would you have screamed… or stopped to get a closer look? #NationalWildlifeDay #TorontoIsland #TorontoWildlife #FamilyTravel CanadaTravel

This weekend was a big one for me. I took my son This weekend was a big one for me.I took my son paddleboarding for the very first time. That might not sound like a big deal to many people, but for those who don’t know, my brother died in 2010 in a kayaking accident. It changed my life forever and broke our hearts.Since then, I haven’t kayaked again or even tried paddleboarding. But my son is an adventurous ten-year-old, and in just a few weeks we’re heading to Canada for an incredible family adventure, where we’ll have the opportunity to paddleboard on some of Ontario’s beautiful lakes. That’s why we booked a paddleboarding taster session on the River Rother in Bodiam. It was brilliant. It was just me, my son, his friend and our amazing instructor Lisa – who also happened to be from Canada. What are the chances?!She gave me so much advice about how to paddleboard safely and confidently. We all attempted different challenges on the boards (the boys were doing 360° turns and jumps while I was celebrating managing tiny hops… but hey, I gave it a go! 😂).Of course, that meant we all fell in... quite a few times! The boys thought it was hilarious and loved cooling off in the water. And, actually, falling in turned out to be one of the most valuable parts of the lesson because our instructor showed me exactly how to get back onto the board safely in deep water. My son was an absolute natural, and I couldn’t have been prouder of him. I’d like to think his Uncle Simon was looking down with a huge smile on his face too. ❤️For a long time, grief made the thought of getting back on the water in this way feel impossible. But this weekend reminded me that moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting. It means honouring the people we’ve lost while still allowing ourselves to make new memories. It wasn’t easy, and there were definitely emotional moments, but I’m so glad I didn’t let heartbreak stop us from living our lives or stop my son from discovering something he absolutely loves. Here’s to new adventures, facing fears one step at a time, and making memories I know we’ll treasure forever. 🇨🇦🏄‍♀️❤️#Paddleboarding #VisitSussex #FamilyAdventure #OutdoorFamily #FacingMyFears
✨Save this for your next London day out! POV: y ✨Save this for your next London day out!POV: you found the most magical place to eat in London ✨🫖Ad/PR inviteWe were invited to step into Neverland at the Peter Pan Afternoon Tea at Aqua Shard. Sitting 31 floors above London inside The Shard, with some of the most breathtaking views across the city, my son declared this was the best restaurant ever. And it has to be one of the most enchanting afternoon teas in London. We were so high we could honestly imagine Peter Pan and Wendy flying by.Every detail was magical. Our cream tea scones arrived hidden inside a treasure chest, opening to reveal an infinity mirror that seemed to go on forever. Oh and I did cream first, then the jam - is that the right way?! Then came the sweetest surprise of all... a miniature pirate ship, surrounded by swirling mist, carrying the most beautiful selection of sweet treats. It genuinely felt as though it had sailed straight out of Neverland. It’s just magical for children and for adults too - especially as I got to enjoy a gorgeous glass of champagne alongside the afternoon tea. ✨ If you’re looking for a truly magical London experience, this deserves a place at the top of your list.Who would you take with you? 💚#PeterPanAfternoonTea #AquaShard #TheShardLondon #LondonAfternoonTea #LondonWithKids
If you’re heading to Stranger Things: The First If you’re heading to Stranger Things: The First Shadow, here’s a London itinerary I’d happily recommend.🎁 The theatre tickets were a present from my husband through Virgin Experiences, to celebrate my birthday. Just the two of us and a real treat. 💙💛🍸 We paired the show with lunch at Tigermilk Soho who kindly gifted us a meal (Ad). Tigermilk is just one minute from the Pheonix theatre. We tried the £39 pre theatre menu after the matinee performance, it works just as well before an evening show.Stranger Things is one of the most immersive theatre experiences we’ve ever experienced. No spoilers from me… but if you’re a Stranger Things fan, you’re in for something really special. And yes... we had to finish with cheesecake (swipe right). 🍰✨ Save this for your next London theatre day out.Have you seen Stranger Things: The First Shadow yet, or is it on your list?#LondonTheatre #StrangerThings #StrangerThingsTheFirstShadow #SohoLondon #Tigermilk
