The holidays have flown by and if you’re like me you’ve left it to the last minute to get your kids back to school ready! The back to school season is one of the busiest times of the year for us parents. When it comes to kids being prepared for school, there are many things that need to be taken care of. So if you want your kids back to school ready, here are some top tips and tricks to get your kids back to school with a bang, helping them feel confident for the new school year.

Tip 2: Talk to your kids about going back to school
Talk to them about how they feel about going back to school, and their new class and teacher. Let them know all the things they might be learning this year and ask them what they are looking forward to the most. Also, make sure they are aware of nay after-school clubs or activities so they know what to expect from each day.
Tip 3: Get School Lunchtime Sorted
My son’s school lunch box is beginning to look a bit tired! Although he does have school dinners some days of the week, there are certain days when a packed lunch is a must, like mac n cheese day. Apparently, the school mac n cheese isn’t as nice as my mac n cheese!
Buy some easy and nutritious snacks for the lunchbox as well as just sandwiches. Yoghurts, babybels, apples, carrot sticks and musli bars are all filling and quick easy to pack.
Next make sure you have everything you need to pack the lunch. This includes:
Water Bottle
A good quality water bottle is really important. You want one that’s easy to top up throughout the day but doesn’t leak and keeps drinks fresh! You would be surprised how many bottles I’ve bought that doesn’t fit all of this criteria!
For my son, who is going into year one, we have the Smash animal stainless steel water bottle. It holds up to 700ml of water and is a brilliant environmentally friendly alternative to plastic.
This water bottle is available from Tesco for just £6.

Lunch Bag
We love the Smash Planet Lunch Bag as it not only looks great it is also very environmentally friendly. The fabric is made from 99% recycled plastic bottles. It also has a wipe-clean antibacterial insulated lining and is perfectly sized for school lunches for hungry and active kids!
It’s great value at just £6 too available from Tesco.
Meal Box
It’s important to have a quality meal box to keep your kid’s sandwiches and lunch fresh. We’re using the Smash Blue Stainless Steel Meal Box which will go in my son’s lunch bag. It’s leak-proof, features a 600ml capacity, and is built to last made out of durable Food Grade Stainless Steel. The best bit is it’s also another environmentally friendly product, 100% Recyclable and Plastic Free / BPA Free.
Available from Tesco for £8.

Tip 4: Label Label Label
If you don’t want your kids belongings to be misplaced label everything! I personally love the labels that are easy to stick on with no need to iron. I’ve ordered my son’s from Amazon and there’s a choice of colour and design. It’s £6.99 for 30 personalised labels.

Tip 5: It’s not just about the uniform
I find that I have to use a number of different shops for my son’s school uniform. I love the Next slim fit rousers as my son is really slim and normal trousers for his age and height just don’t stay up! Matalan has great school jumpers and reasonably priced polo shirts. Clarks for long lasting and comfortable shoes and Marks and Spencers, Sainsburys, Asda or Tesco for socks and vests.

There’s lots of other options and one stop shops but you soon discover what’s right for your kids style, shape and sizes. But it’s not just about the uniform. Their real individuality and chance to shine comes with the accessories to the uniform. These include:
Rucksack
Your kid’s rucksack is their opportunity to express themselves. So get something they will love or even better let them choose. My son absolutely loves his shark backpack from Regatta, which we were kindly gifted in exchange for a review.

School Jacket
It needs to be warm, waterproof and comfortable, plus your kids need to love it too! Fortunately, there are some brilliant coats for back to school to choose from. Regatta has a wide selection of school coats and offers home delivery so perfect if you can’t get to the shops.
Tip 6: Get their confidence up with a new back to school hair cut
Most people feel great after a new hair cut and it’s no different for kids! Get them a back to school hair cut to boost their confidence for the new school year.
